Lightbulb moment.

Unread post by Onelife »

I had noticed the plug wires on a standard lampshade were a bit loose so decided to rewire it…40 minutes later I have just completed the task which should have taken no more than 5 minutes.

It went something like this…unscrewed, rewired, turned on…nothing happened.
Tried again. Unscrewed, rewired turned on… nothing happened.
Faulty fuse I thought…unscrewed, changed fuse…nothing happened.
What’s going on I thought, so changed plug for another one.
Unscrewed, rewired, new fuse… nothing happened.
Getting so frustrated, I turned to my wife and said “I can’t work out why this isn’t working”?
She looked for a moment and then said…” try putting a bulb in it”

Sometimes I hate my wife

Indeed David, we only acquired the lampshade a couple of days ago and it was my wife who unbeknown to me took the bulb out in order that I could make good the wiring….so in this case the proverb should read… “too many hands make much work”.

You just can’t get the quality from jumble sales like you use to.

“2/6d” for an antique standard lampshade was too good a bargain to miss…it even came with a lightbulb
