We will definitely play a mix if fringe players and academy at Plymouth. My memories of Plymouth, they are a very loud, passionate crowd. I think we will be knocked out of the EFL cup at the first hurdle especially if they play their strongest team.
Star of the show against Luton was Jayden Clarke , who we picked up from Dulwich Hamlet.
He was signed in January but well away from match fitness for league two so spent the second half of last season training with the squad.
His first start was against Southampton and looked very lively.
His second start was against Luton and clearly man of the match and scored his first goal for the club.
It's quite possible we've unearthed another non league talent.
I'll be honest, Gills were never out of this match and Luton were hanging on at the end.
If we can transfer that performance into every league match, we will be promoted.
Unfortunately, as we all know, football doesn't work like that.

I was nearly right. Losing 2-0 and Roy makes three subs Eze, Schlupp and Ayew replace 3 fringe players and wham, bam thank you mam we turn it around.

We have an easy passage into the 4th round. Away to Man United. I hope Dean Henderson plays.

You do seem to do well against Utd in the Carling cup or whatever they call it now.

Shame you always falter in the final of the FA Cup against them. Still, can’t have everything.

Boring, it’s all very tiresome the bitterness, without foundation. Sounds of Benitez with his Fact rant, really quite funny, made him look a fool like Keegan.

We managed our first win of the season, and it was away, now we can go onto the international break with a bit of a smile.

It was going to happen sooner or later and we suffered our first loss. We had 63% of possession but unless you do something with it you're not going to score and such was the case yesterday. The first half was very pedestrian but the substitutions brought more pace to the game and but for the post and some wayward shooting we could have got a draw quite easily. As it was we were beaten by a deflected shot after some slack defending.

I see some Celtic fans are complaining about Bodger's keep ball/go nowhere tactics which are totally the opposite to Postecoglou's more adventurous style of play. On that score they have my sympathy.

Postecoglou certainly seems to have put some zip into Spurs, despite being without Harry Kane.

They're playing good football ⚽️
Even Maddison's not rolling around on his backside so much now. Some of the passes put through yesterday were sublime.

Still getting away with those 1-0 wins
I wonder if any other team has topped the division after 7 games with a zero goal difference?

What's even more incredible is that a small cabal of so called fans are calling "Harris Out" because they want more attacking football.

It was 33C on Saturday at Priestfield and some massively obese guy in the crowd sitting down with his full fat coke while chomping on his third burger and shouting that some players aren't fit !!

I kid you not.

I was up in Kent last week and got to two games.
A win against Orient in the Paint Pot Cup and a home league win on Saturday.
Neither were hugely expansive football, but a win is a win.

Barney....I see the Gills have appointed Keith Millen as Head of their Academy. You've got a very good coach there, one of the best.

It was a much more inspiring game from England last night. When they moved the ball about they were really quite threatening but after half time they slowed the game down, reverted to keep ball and ultimately encouraged Scotland to get on the front foot. After the goal they upped the tempo and deserved the win.
I really am no fan of this keep ball strategy when there is no progress or threat made just for the sake of possession. I actually think one of the commentators mentioned just that.
For once I enjoyed an England match.

I agree Paul.
He has a very good pedigree.

Since Brad & Shannon took over the club, they have totally changed the ethos to be much more inclusive.
A much better youth policy so we don't keep losing decent kids to London clubs.
Shannon is also massively supporting the Ladies team.
We now have a B team, which we've not had since the old Reserve Leagues.
In previous years it's been either first team squad or shipped out.
The amount of 18/19 year olds we've released that have gone on to play at a higher level.

Still top :D :D :D

The press are talking about County & Wrexham back to back promotions and totally ignoring Gills and Swindon.

Long may it last

His last game in charge will be Wednesday against Stoke, so I hope he finishes on a win.
No indication of his replacement at present but I hope he can get the same performances out of the squad that Neil has achieved.
