My daughter and I have been dreading this day and now it has arrived. We are very upset. This coming Sunday will be a contrast of emotions. Excitement and joy but great sadness and poignancy too. We will watch the Premier League trophy being paraded at the end of our last home game, and will show our appreciation to the players, but most of all on Sunday, we will show our thanks and appreciation to Sir Alex for all he has done for Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson - the greatest manager, ever.

I would love Jose to be United's next manager, his record speaks for itself.

I understand at the Everton training ground today, there was an unreal sort of atmosphere, as though something was happening, in respect of Moyes.

I first saw Sir Alec, when he was Manager at Aberdeen, we were staying at Aberdeen University, and Aberdeen used to train just at the rear of the University.

Together with an Uncle of my wife's who used to be on Portsmouth's books, we used to go and watch them train, I also remember going to watch them play Dundee on the Saturday, at Aberdeen's first in the country, all seater stadium, a game they won.

Have followed his career ever since, certainly one of the best football managers, this country has had.

Will be a hard act to replace, 26 years at one club.

It is also worth remembering he had a job for life at Aberdeen, before he decided to leave,

He left Pittodrie after delivering 10 trophies during an eight-year spell, having succeeded Billy McNeil in 1978.

Erm, he was sacked by your Oligarch - who'd go back to a job where they'd been sacked ? If your owner couldn't appreciate Jose's skills, then he didn't deserve the guy anyway. And you can all get your little digs in about SAF, but the facts is that he is a brilliant manager. I salute him, and his incredible achievements, and football will be a much poorer place without him.

It is presently being reported that Jose is an unlikely choice given that Bobby Charlton, allegedly, thinks he would cause friction inside and more importantly outside of the club.

On that basis it seems to be going to David Moyes ... a tough old bird in the Fergie mould.
