Re: Sir Alex
Spot on .... well done that man
Going out while he is right at the top, better that than going out with a whimper and a relegation ala Mr Clough.
So will it be Jose or Mr Moyes who steps into those impossible shoes ?

Re: Sir Alex
My daughter and I have been dreading this day and now it has arrived. We are very upset. This coming Sunday will be a contrast of emotions. Excitement and joy but great sadness and poignancy too. We will watch the Premier League trophy being paraded at the end of our last home game, and will show our appreciation to the players, but most of all on Sunday, we will show our thanks and appreciation to Sir Alex for all he has done for Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson - the greatest manager, ever.
I would love Jose to be United's next manager, his record speaks for itself.

Re: Sir Alex
If it is Mr Mourinho that takes over I may take a liking to Man U.
I didn't like Alex Ferguson but he was / is a good manager.
I didn't like Brian Clough either but here in Nottingham people consider him the best ever.

There are champagne corks being popped all over the country by many, many referees, linesman and 4th officials
Good luck to him, I hope he has a wonderful retirement, he deserves it..It had to happen...I hope all Man Utd fans celebrate with Sir Alex a fantastic career and not sulk, which is their normal response to something that goes against them.
ps....Sir Alex needs a new Timex.

Re: Sir Alex
I understand at the Everton training ground today, there was an unreal sort of atmosphere, as though something was happening, in respect of Moyes.
I first saw Sir Alec, when he was Manager at Aberdeen, we were staying at Aberdeen University, and Aberdeen used to train just at the rear of the University.
Together with an Uncle of my wife's who used to be on Portsmouth's books, we used to go and watch them train, I also remember going to watch them play Dundee on the Saturday, at Aberdeen's first in the country, all seater stadium, a game they won.
Have followed his career ever since, certainly one of the best football managers, this country has had.
Will be a hard act to replace, 26 years at one club.
It is also worth remembering he had a job for life at Aberdeen, before he decided to leave,
He left Pittodrie after delivering 10 trophies during an eight-year spell, having succeeded Billy McNeil in 1978.
Three Scottish Premier League titles, four Scottish Cups, a Scottish League Cup and the small matter of Cup Winners' Cup success against Real Madrid, followed up by a win in the European Super Cup, marked the most successful era in the Dons' history.
49 trophies in total cannot be bad

He's going out a winner, bit of a miserable sod and I've always hated the 'extra time' at Old Trafford, but what a great man and a great manager. Very big shoes to fill I think.

Re: Sir Alex
The best "Fergieism" imo
Soton beat them a few years back
Sir Alex claimed it was the fault of the "away" colours . . . a very insipid grey
Never ever worn them since

Thats as maybe - I still think Fergie has no manners and does not set a good example to the youth of today.

We beat them next season too. As they trudged off the pitch the chant was 'have you got another kit?'gfwgfw wrote:The best "Fergieism" imo

And we beat hem the season after that, too.

That reminds me of our cruise on Oceana to the Canaries this year, when we had daily announcements of "This is Captain Terry speaking from the Bridge" Just what a spurs fan would want to hear!!The Tinker wrote:And please keep your mutts off Mourinho = he belongs at the Bridge

Erm, he was sacked by your Oligarch - who'd go back to a job where they'd been sacked ? If your owner couldn't appreciate Jose's skills, then he didn't deserve the guy anyway. And you can all get your little digs in about SAF, but the facts is that he is a brilliant manager. I salute him, and his incredible achievements, and football will be a much poorer place without him.The Tinker wrote:And please keep your mutts off Mourinho = he belongs at the Bridge

Re: Sir Alex
It is presently being reported that Jose is an unlikely choice given that Bobby Charlton, allegedly, thinks he would cause friction inside and more importantly outside of the club.
On that basis it seems to be going to David Moyes ... a tough old bird in the Fergie mould.

Re: Sir Alex
where will Rooney go then?
wait for the slump in form and player power coming to the fore
you can just imagine the dressing room "Siralex never did that, Siralex would have done this"
3 or 4 th next season at best
