Foxy's Victor Meldrew Moment

Unread post by oldbluefox »

Foxy wants to have a grump!!
Boxes of chocolates

Am I alone in feeling cheated to receive a lovely big box of chocolates, beautifully decorated only to open it and find the inside contains nothing but a plastic liner, a few chocolates and the bulk of it is fresh air!!!?

I used to love a box of chocolates when they were all tightly packed inside in their little paper nests and two layers if you were lucky. Nowadays there are hardly any chocolates considering the size of the box. Just think how much it must cost, not only in transport costs but ecologically to deliver what are mainly boxes of fresh air. Think how many more chocolates could be delivered if they were more tightly packed together. Cut out the plastic, use less card for the boxes. Stop trying to con us.

Nowadays I rarely buy boxes of chocolates for that very reason. And as for 'tins' of chocolates. Open them up and the 'tin' is only half full (and half the size they used to be just to add insult to injury). The reason given is 'settlement'. If you believe that you'll believe anything.

Moan over.................for now :x

You’re obviously using the wrong suppliers Foxy

I’ve noticed a shortfall in many items of confectionery especially chocolates which is why I rarely indulge myself in them.

I do on special occasions buy a box of luxury chocolates which contains even less than the commercially distributed chocolates…but for someone special it’s the thought that counts.

I do however agree with you foxy….I think they take us for fools in thinking we don’t notice the difference…I was tucking into a packet of crisps yesterday which contained about 10 crisps…I think the packet must have cost more than what they put in them theses days.

Keefie's chocolates over the years have never changed. Unfortunately it's the same chocolates in the same boxes. I suspect there's a degree of recycling going on!!!

True. And you're grateful when there is more packaging and fewer chocs.

Like everything these days, the product gets smaller while the price rises.

I reckon Wagon Wheels should be renamed Wheelbarrow Wheels - though the makers deny they've shrunk. Just claim our hands are bigger!

And Walnut Whips. Oh dear what a mess they have made of those from the days when they were such a fabulous treat. It's an abomination to call them Walnut Whips nowadays to anyone who remembers the originals.

Anyone remember the slogan… “A Mars a day helps you work rest and play”? Now you need to buy two to get the same benefits.
