Well, she’s right about one thing…. there is a hurricane coming.
I think its time the conservative party boarded up the windows and sit it out for the next six years in order that they can build the party back on firmer foundations.
Our political system is broken.

I have mixed feelings about Call Me Dave returning. He seriously misread the public opinion when he called the Brexit referendum, failed to get any meaningful concessions from the EU to persuade us to stay, ran an awful Remain campaign that actually convinced me to vote Leave, and bailed out when he didn't get the answer he expected. However on the plus side he is at the moderate centre end of the party. So maybe this is a sign to the hard right that their game is up.

If Labour can’t win the next election with this shower of ::: in government, then they may as well just pack it in.

I don't think it will change the election result Barney, but as a floating middle ground voter I'd like a choice! I could no more vote hard right than I could for Corbyn. There's a few on both sides I'd like to bury too!

I suspect Dave is only viewing this as a short term job, I doubt he will stick around after the tories lose next years election.

Perhaps she could have phrased her comments a little better but at least she showed some backbone in calling out the Antisemitism of which there were many in the protest marches.

Re: Braverman sacked
I don't know if anyone else watched the "Time" series that finished on Sunday but I found it amusing that the Jodie Whittaker character when released from prison was given a tent as there was nowhere else that she could go to. Now assuming that the writers do their homework I would guess that this does happen which makes the "tents as a lifestyle choice" somewhat irresponsible when she headed up the department that is giving out the tents.

I didn’t watch it. In 26 years I’ve never heard of a tent being given to a prisoner on release.! But I guess it was a Drama not factual.

Just done a Google search and it appears that certainly took place going back to 2016 (maybe earlier). Not sure if it is still happening. It did appear to be prevalent in Yorkshire.screwy wrote: 14 Nov 2023, 12:24I didn’t watch it. In 26 years I’ve never heard of a tent being given to a prisoner on release.! TBH I did find the series rather unbelievable, especially the scene of the young Mum being applauded by a guard of honour of the prisoners, as she was discharged from jail.david63 wrote: 14 Nov 2023, 13:20Just done a Google search and it appears that certainly took place going back to 2016 (maybe earlier). So did I at times. Would a single mother of three be sent directly to prison without some provision being made for the children? And in these "minor" cases I thought that sentencing was done later after the appropriate reports had been done.

Suella Braverman's letter today says more to me about her than it does about the PM. What a bitter and twisted woman she is. And what a hypocrite. If she really believes the government is failing in the way she says she should have resigned from the Cabinet and stopped taking the ministerial salary months ago. If she ever achieves her ambition of leading the Tories I'll vote for Corbyn or Paddington Bear before anything she's in charge of.

Suella Braverman’s letter to Sunak…
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67416146
If what she is saying is true then Sunak needs to defend the accusation or resign, imo

Having read the letter I’m inclined to agree with Keith. And personally it’s time we had a change of government.

Re: Braverman sacked
You don't really expect any govt trailing in the polls, to go for an early election, do you Stephen?
I would imagine it will be as late as possible, probably after the Kings speech, which of course will then disrupt any new administration, and put them on the back foot.

Me thinks that she is not a happy bunny!
As with all of these things we only have, and probably only ever will have, one side of the story.
The saying "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" comes to mind here.
Never have been a fan of her and nothing has changed.
