The Brits, and other awards ceremony

Unread post by Ray B »

Never watch them, but the news is full of it.
The Brits are big today and apparently someone called Raye swept the board. I must be out of touch only listening to radio 2, as I've never heard of her.
Now it was mentioned that there was an upset last year ,as males dominated the awards. Strange this year no male's were winners.
Don't worry, be happy

Raye is an outstanding talent.
Personally I don’t like or watch any award shows.
It’s just not for me.
But she is very talented and probably a worthy winner.
I used to be a Radio 2 fan but now listen to Radio X.
I like the music of that era.

I don't watch it either. I find these award ceremonies sickeningly narcissistic, everybody patting each other on the back when you know it's all show, people trying to outdo each other with their 'look at me' demeanour and then those cringeworthy acceptance speeches. Sorry, not for me.

Just a question - if you don't watch it then how do you know all of that happens :?: :?

Because it’s splashed all over the news channels.

Got it in one. You are not allowed to avoid it. It was on every channel this morning, over and over again 😩😭

I'm pleased I'm not the only one who has never heard of Raye. I knew I was completely out of date when the picture of her was on the front of my newspaper and I hadn't a clue who she was. I wonder if my parents felt like that when photos of The Beatles were all over the papers back in the 60s.

Well these days I'd no idea what you identified as or your choice of pronouns. And I've not heard her sing either! 😅
