Students meat, but is this a misteak

Unread post by Ray B »

One thing I can not stand is when something is forced onto you just to satisfy another person's wishes.
The looney brigade at Cambridge University want all food served in the University canteens, cafes and bars to be completely free of all animal products. Meaning, all food etc, will be 100% plant based.
It has been proposed by Animal Rebellion, which happens to be an offshoot of activist group Extinction Rebellion.
I do love animals, rabbits, lambs and the chickens etc, they all go well for a Sunday dinner or on the BBQ. A nice juicy steak served on the plate where if I had a defibrillator I'm sure I could revive it.
If you don't eat animal products I do not have a problem, if that is what you enjoy, just don't expect to force it on me.

In similar vein some schools decided all meat should be Halal to satisfy one religious group. I object to that on the grounds that I consider the Halal method of slaughter to be cruel.

Further to my post, I think that while vegan food is being proposed by the looney brigade, the ultimate decision of what food is provided in the canteens is taken by the University, which I would think may be in consultation with the students that came equipped with a brain that can make a sensible decision.

I too find it difficult to understand, and appreciate that that it has been the way for Muslims and their religion.
We did use to do the same but have moved to more humane ways of killing. Maybe it's something they will consider. Q
Before I retired I worked on the plumbing in the blood pits, and could never get use to seeing the cows ,pigs etc being slaughtered. I'm sure when I looked at them in the line prior to entering the killing cage or have the shocking equipment put on them, they knew .
