One has to admire the painstaking work that goes into revealing theses treasures of the past.

We have been to both Pompeii and Herculaneum and were absolutely fascinated by the archaeological digs which have uncovered these treasures after so many years. Amazing to think they go back 2000 years and are only just coming to light.

Fantastic to see the artwork and artifacts from the day when tragedy struck Pompeii, as the residents would have seen them.
Looking forward to enjoying the series starting Monday 9pm BBC2..
Don't worry, be happy

We enjoyed the series on Orkney archaeology on BBC -it’s available on iPlayer
Orkney; Britain’s Ancient Capital’

Episode 1
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b087vh70

Episode 2
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b088pnv1

Episode 3
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08bgfpg

The first one looks a the Ring of Brodgar and has some fascinating insights as to how such fantastic structures were made from rock using tools made from deer antler.

The second episode sees how Neolithic man could have sailed across the Pentland Firth using a hide boat waterproofed with fat.

Even Neil Oliver couldn’t spoil the progs!
