I don't know if it's changed now but P&O could never seem to be able to produce good toast. It's usually ,the first thing that's served, along with tea or coffee. Much of the time the toast looks as if it's hardly seen inside a toaster for more than about thirty seconds. I know it's individual taste but I like my toast to look like toast and not like an anaemic piece of bread. I also like my toast crisp but that might be asking too much. I was at a lovely hotel in Bath last December and even there the toast looked anaemic. I asked if it could be toasted a little longer. I received a funny look but yes I was given a perfectly toasted piece of bread. Why can't that be the norm? Don't get me started on marmalade!

Do you remember the old type gas cookers with the over head grill and pull out grill pan. They mad the best toast, including cheese on toast.

I like my bread to verge on cremated, nice and dark brown. As for marmalade, you mean that sweet, sugary stuff with a few bits of orange rind floating about but very little taste? I took to making my own with Mamade but instead of water I put lemon or grapefruit juice and added my own orange rind which had been blasted in the microwave and reduced the amount of sugar. It actually tasted like marmalade should, although I doubt it would win any prizes but I liked it.
We once stayed in a little old-fashioned hotel in the Lakes which made their own marmalade simply by putting the whole oranges in the blender and using that as the base and that tasted pretty good but most marmalades apart from the Dundee marmalade are pretty bland.

One of the best Marmalades I have ever eaten is …. Lady Windsor's original recipe for rich Seville Marmalade, with the highest proportion of oranges for an intense flavour. The addition of black treacle delivers a deep colour and richer taste that's earned multiple awards. Every jar is a decadent experience and the perfect way to start the day.
They sell it fine or thick with thick cut being my preference.
They sale it just down the road at Ludlow farm shop...just in case you’re passing.

Sorry David, I’m not prepared to take the chance…my dealings with Stephen have always ended in tears… with lots of counselling afterwards…perhaps you can approach Foxy for a jar of his award-winning Marmalade...it comes with two slices of burnt toast

Considering what Keefy told me about Stephen's vast wealth I would be only too pleased to supply him with a jar of my premium marmalade. Cash up front though. I did send some to His Majesty and am now awaiting for his seal of approval after which I will have to change my labels and start charging more.

Unacceptable behaviour #36.
Why would anyone think it is okay to go into the breakfast buffet at a 5 star Hotel in their pyjamas?

It won't be the first time we have stayed in a hotel when ladies have come down to breakfast in their pyjamas, gather up their food and then disappear for breakfast in bed. Perhaps they have never heard of room service. And one was a premier league footballer's wife: he had just been transferred to the club and they were staying in the hotel.

I haven’t said a word, other than to say Sir Merv’s posh hotel appears to be located next to a second-hand slipper and pyjama shop

A judgement has been made by the police on the lead post. The two girls have been spoken to by the police and have decided to issue them with a community resolution order. The dog is unharmed and will be allowed to stay with the family. The police are working with the RSPCA and the girls.
The aim of issuing a community resolution is to prevent reoffending and to ensure offenders truly understand what they did was wrong and why. Officers will be working with the two teenagers and the RSPCA in the coming weeks.

Is that after they throw them off a viaduct with a bungee rope attached and a loose knot.

None at all. The birch was more effective. And leaving the dog with the young thugs?
