Regarding travel insurance.
Was in the Bank this morning and asked if they had any accounts with the above. The guy said no but if you booked through them you get 40% discount.! How does this work ?

Which bank?
Is that 40% discount off the holiday or 40% discount off their recommended travel insurance?

That’s a new one on me David, banks getting into the holiday business.

The outbreak of cryptosporidium in South Cornwell water supply is unfortunate, but does bring to the fore how vulnerable we are from an attack on the water supply. The sickness ,while not pleasant is not normally a killer.
While the Don't drink message has been issued, the water company will supply wholesome bottles of water to anyone who wants it, it's quite an under taking trying to supply bottles as quick as possible. Water companies normally keep a warehouse full of emergency supply bottles.
BUT, and this is where Stephen could help, yes, compensation. An offer of £115 to consumers has been made, even before they have found the cause.
But as usual it's never enough for those hoping for a big pay out. Compo, compo, compo, what have we become.
Be thankful that normally the water is wholesome potable water coming from the taps thanks to the technology and testing done by you water company.

It’s actually Brixham in Devon Ray, but that’s a side issue.
South West Water are and have been for many years, nothing short of a disgrace in both supplying and removing water.
I actually bought shares in them for the sole reason of attending agms to be part of the pressure group.
I’ve also joined Surfers Against Sewerage even though I no longer surf or dive.
Their policy of raw sewerage dumping should lead to criminal convictions, not compensation.
When I had a narrow boat, if we had been responsible for any leakage, they came down on you like a ton of bricks.
SWW don’t dance to the same tune.
Some sewerage discharges have gone on for days.
They have one job to do.
Provide clean drinking water and safely dispose of waste.
They fail miserably in both while racking up huge profits due to being a monopoly.
I’d be happy to see their executives in jail.

As a post script.
The water supply in a primary school has been proven to be polluted and has had to close.
It’s like being in a third world country.
Tuesday SWW announced that the water was fine.
Wednesday they said don’t drink.
What the heck is going on when you can’t get clean water from your tap?

Getting the runs from tap water was something you endured in the 1960s when on holiday in Spain. But it's not acceptable n 2020s in the UK.

As I said, pure clean water is taken for granted and we are fortunate to enjoy it,so much so that we even water our lawns with it.
But when something goes wrong the moaners come out in force,having not a clue of how the normally clean water gets to their taps.

Perhaps paying water company bosses such ridiculous salaries and using that money for the benefit of their customers would perhaps go some way to solving theses problems.

Apparently this outbreak has caused panic buying of toilet paper in the South West.

I'm off to the supermarket for a couple of gross of large packs, just in case it spreads north.

Compensation payments are the least of their worries.
A huge law suit will follow.
Many hospitalised and many businesses losing a lot of money.
It will hopefully be the end of privatised SWW.

AWA and maybe other water companies have looked after their investors well at the expense of upgrading the infrastructure. Discharging sewage into watercourses and the Sea, making it unsafe to anyone using the waters, our beach at Sea Palling lost our blue flag two years ago becauseof an outfall 6/7 miles up the coast . They then turn around and say that water bills will have to rise considerably to put rite something which they should have been doing instead of paying dividends .
We now have to contend with a Seaside award status until the sea has flushed out the nasties and we pass the quality water test again

So the media are awash with reports that Ventura has a noro outbreak. When will these pathetic journalists grasp that this is no more news than grass is green? When will they understand this bug is endemic in the UK and other places and there is not a cruise ship afloat that's not had an outbreak at sometime? Or that their own newsroom probably has too. That it is not the cruise lines fault.
