6th June 1944.
We remember those that stormed the beaches of Normandy on this day 6th June 1944, those that came back and those who did not.
We will remember them.
We will remember them.
Don't worry, be happy

It was amazing watching BBC 1 last night broadcasting from the Bayeaux cemetery that we visited last week.
Very moving, both times.

The tributes and coverage have been amazing. Moving ceremonies last night from Bayeux and Portsmouth.

I thought last night's ceremonies were stunning. Very moving and incredible technical achievements too.

The Royals have done a good job of reflecting the mood of the country from tears and solemnity to inspiring words.

Just returned from a remembrance torch lighting ceremony with scripted words which were spoken around the country.
We do indeed remember them.
Well said Ray.

We were at a gathering at our volunteer lifeboat shed and had a vicar come from Norwich Cathedral to say a few words and prayers.
After a beacon lamp was lit, it was raised up the flag pole.
A simple ceremony in honour of those on D day.

Two of my grandchildren were very lucky and were at the D Day Celebrations at Southsea on Wednesday. My grandson is a member of the Cathedral Choir who were there and my grandaughter is a member of the Combined Naval Cadet Force and a contingent from them were there; she took some amazing photographs and said she also met the First Sea Lord. I'm sure they will have memories to last a lifetime and hopefully will have a fuller understanding of what those brave men and women did to give us freedom.
