Cows on the run

Unread post by Ray B »

Here in our part of the country we have loads of farm animals, and quite often they escape their enclosure.
No problem with that, our police will just go and round them up. They will not mow them down like the big brave the coppers in the video, it doesn't even look like the cow is full grown, but they do get confused when in an environment they are not use to.

I watched that this morning Ray. Appaling behaviour

Poor animal.
All they had to do was corral it into a corner. Probably couldn’t be ar*ed to get of they’re car.

Seems brutal. However we don't know the full story and frightened cows on the run can be killers.

In which case call a vet out and tranquillise if necessary, not ram the poor thing.

The stupid cow was running through open streets and could easily have caused serious injury to pedestrians. Had a vet been called and tranquilised the beast it would more than likely have caused itself more injury through falling or worse.

What's worse, falling after being knocked over by a plod-mobile or falling slowly as the tranquilizer takes affect. As for pedestrians, the street was teaming with them wasn't it...not.

More importantly, how did it get out?

That's my question too. The farmer is full of criticism of the police but no apology for the cow being on the loose in the first place. So how did it get out? Also reports say this incident was ongoing for some hours. Round here it would have been all over social media in the first five minutes. So why did he not notice it was out for some hours? Why was he not there to help round it up if it's so easy? A lot of unanswered questions before we condemn the cop who did what they thought best at the time. No doubt if someone had been killed or injured the critics would now be attacking the police for not acting.

Clint Eastwood is never around when you need him.
He’d have it lassoed and ridden back to the friend in five minutes.

I'm on the side of the calf, calves are very inquisitive and if you run, they will run after you. Try walking in a field of calves and they spot you, they will run over to have a look, it's a bit intimidating, but if you hold you arms up and wave and shout, they will gather around.
I suggest we volunteer Onelife to prove it works.
To me ,the video doesn't exactly show a stampede through the streets, it just needed someone to step in, like Onelife, and calm the critter down.🐄

Can't think why they didn't get the farmer in the first place. Did you see the fool running around. Naturally the calf would follow him.

I find it hard to believe that so called friends would advocate Onelife trying to sweet talk a raging Bull into surrender  …I would rather take my chances with a police car.

On a serious note, I can’t believe that the officer has been suspended while investigations take place…what a complete waste of time and money. With the stupid cow running around like a headless chicken it would have taken twenty or thirty vets spread all around London to get a clear shot at it…. whilst a police marksman could have downed it in one…. Beau Lucy got away lightly considering the alternative.

As for James Cleverly saying there should be a full, urgent explanation…. this is the nonsense as to why he and his ministers will soon be out of a job.

Where are the Swallows/Martins and Swifts ?
I’ve not seen any around our parts this year. We’ve got lots of Wood Pidgeons and Magpies in our garden ( unfortunately ) which sh*t all over the patio . Shortage of Sparrows too.

We get sparrows and fat pigeons in the garden. Tits too and occasional finches. And robins, blackbirds and thrushes. And crows. But don't see many swallows etc near the house.

You two are just jealous because you don't have tits in your garden.
