These oldies have got some stamina. We went to bed about 11 and they were still shaking it about on the dance floor. We did laugh at one elderly lady though who came in using a walking stick. The next thing she’s propped it against a chair and off she goes onto the dance floor.

Going back to arrival at the port which I forgot to mention.
When we arrived we didn’t have to touch our luggage or even get of the car. The chauffeur was signalled to pull up to the waiting porters. He then got out and handed them our luggage which was whisked away. The next we saw it was outside our cabin a short while later. All very efficient.

Oh, and good speed WiFi.

Nothing changes with ship breakfast buffets. Still manic even on here, and for me P&O have the edge on the breakfast food quality and presentation. Will revert to the main dining room tomorrow and see how that fares.

Mrs S keeps bending my ear about how they encourage you to use paper towels or the flannels they provide on the door handles when exiting the ladies. The problem is there is nothing to dispose the towel into once your outside the loo’s. So, this morning yet again I got an ear bashing about this but as she finished I happen to turn round and who was behind me but the Captain . So taking my opportunity I said good morning Captain my wife would like a word. Well you should have seen her face as I put her on the spot. She didn’t know whether to admire being in his presence or run . Anyway she got her point over to him which said he would look into.

It was the little niceties which I remember from our cruise on Saga. They seemed to think of everything and nothing was too much trouble. Pleased to hear that those standards have not slipped.

We ate in the main dining room last night. Very disappointing. Waited ages for starters and mains. Didn’t rate the food at all which was only just warm. Should have sent it back really but didn’t want to hold others up, plus the portion size was so small it only took me a few minutes to eat it.

Can I ask how was the dress code last night.

The dress code was pretty well adhered to Lindsey apart from one or two. One woman thought a tatty frock and black trainers was posh and a chap wearing chinos and a short sleeve shirt. Whether they were eating in a non comfort restaurant I don't know but I thought it was pushing it a bit at the Captains cocktail party.

The buffet is now dumped as far as we are concerned, at least on here. More civilised in the main or specialty restaurants, especially for breakfast.

At Falmouth today. Weather mixed. Been out this morning and about to toddle off again in a few minutes.....once the Sanatogen has kicked in

Scilly Isles today and of course it’s raining. We were booked on a trip to Tresco Gardens but we cancelled due to the weather.

Last nights diner service was much better, probably because we were on a table for two.
The ships entertainment team are excellent with one of the young ladies having a voice of an angel.

Surprise surprise….Guernsey cancelled again so heading back towards Dover. All credit to the Captain though he tried his best to get us in there.He even sent one of the tenders over as a test run but it was just too choppy. Safety first every time. Compo form poised for the travel insurance claim.

Just as I’m writing this the cabin Steward just knocked the door to give us a bottle of bubbly with compliments. We keep getting booze. Mrs S will look like a pit pony when we disembark tomorrow .

You would think with age demographic on here the lifts would be chocker. Oh no, there are loads of them, and they all work, are fast, large and immaculately kept. And no stop start at every level. Very impressed.

Tip:
For anyone taking this cruise where The Isles of Scilly are on the itinerary be aware that the ships tenders are not used. Instead you have to use the local tenders which more often than not are an open deck. So if it’s raining as it was for us yesterday take an umbrella and a pool towel to sit on if you don’t want a wet bum.

When we stopped at Guernsey a few years ago now it was also very doubtful if we were going to be able to tender. However, the Port Authority sent out a much larger boat to transport passengers to the quayside. It was there all day so everyone who wished could get ashore. I don't know if the Port Authorities still do this on occasions. I think we were on Adonia at the time.
