Just read that Labour are going to help make the lives of our 'guests' that have arrived by small boats from France, a bit more comfortable. They are planning to shut down the Bibby Stockholm barge by the end of January 2025. So where are they going to live now ?

So how did you manage to slip through the net?

On Radio Solent this morning, the Labour MP for Dorset was full of how they were going to expedite the process of dealing with the men on the Barge so they will either be admitted or sent back. The interviewer kept pressing the MP as to how they were going to do that. The MP was full of how the Tory Government's use of the Barge, and the Rwanda plan were both just gimmicks. He was fond of that word. Eventually he said they were going to employ a Task Force to get these men sorted quickly. He didn't say how all that was going to be paid for. He also didn't have any information as to what they would do with any of the men whose case wasn't completed by January 2025. He spent a lot of time, I suppose obviously, trashing the Tory Government rather than giving us any clear idea how the new Government was going to deal with the whole Immigrant problem. We'll see. Certainly there seemed to be many local people who were very welcoming to the men on the Barge and organised several different things for them, but yes I think the majority of the local people will be pleased to see the barge go.

The first rebellion of left wing Labour MPs is unlikely to be the last. Whilst in opposition it is easy to criticise the govt for all sorts of failings to provide adequate services or benefits, but once in office the limitations of funds to provide these things suddenly starts to rear its ugly head.
It will be very interesting to see how Sir Keir copes, and how long he will be able to blame the previous govt before the penny drops with the electorate.

I'm well connected…my late Great Grandfather was the Earl of Plymouth and our family estate resides in the lovely hills of Shropshire…. the down side is that the miserable old sod only left me half of his estate.

Here's a conundrum. Labour have committed to building 300,000 new homes per year. Never mind whether they can achieve it, if each home has 2.36 people in it, the current UK average, that's homes for 708,000 people per year. In 2023 net migration to the UK was 685,000. So unless they have a solution to that they're not going to make much impact on the current housing crisis!

It doesn’t look good does its Stephen. I like you don’t condone this kind of cruelty, the force and the way the whip was used was unnecessary harsh. There is a case to be made for the using a lounging whip in training as you can’t get a horse to move like you would when training a dog. That being said I’m not a great supporter of the methods used in dressage events.

From what I have seen you cannot condone the excessive use of the whip. It certainly does not look good. Why, though, has it taken four years to come to light. It should have been exposed years ago.
