Re: Disgusting!!
By stark contrast, since the weekend Kamala Harris has been given £77m in donations. That's in addition to what Biden had been given by his faithful. And all that in addition to what Trump has been given. And that's just for the election campaign. All be gone by Christmas. Makes you realise how much cheaper a Presidency is.

Re: Disgusting!!
Considering the USA is about 40 times bigger than the UK one would expect there to be a difference in the amounts of money donated and spent…at least they have a democratic process when electing their president…when did we last get a vote on who we want representing this country?Mervyn and Trish wrote: 24 Jul 2024, 20:07By stark contrast, since the weekend Kamala Harris has been given £77m in donations. You’ve been paying far too much attention to the figures “Brand Finance” keeps pumping out. Brand Buckingham is a secretive organisation that doesn’t adhere to the same rules as everyone else, at best we can only guess at the vast wealth they have accumulated/stolen through their inherited birth rights…what a load of twaddle to suggest they are value for money when a growing percentage of the UK don’t value the roles they play.oldbluefox wrote: 24 Jul 2024, 20:09They bring in more than they cost. The way I read it was that the Sovereign grant would have been £145m higher had King Charles not agreed the reduction, and of course if the monarchy had not given up their rights to the crown estates, they would have been £1.05bn better off.oldbluefox wrote: 24 Jul 2024, 20:09They bring in more than they cost. It really is DISGUSTING that we can band figurers around such as 2.50bn as if it was a drop in the ocean.towny44 wrote: 24 Jul 2024, 23:02The way I read it was that the Sovereign grant would have been £145m higher had King Charles not agreed the reduction, and of course if the monarchy had not given up their rights to the crown estates, they would have been £1.05bn better off.oldbluefox wrote: 24 Jul 2024, 20:09They bring in more than they cost. The Monarchy didn’t give anything up least of all 1.5bn revenue from the crown estate as it was never theirs to give away in the first place.

Re: Disgusting!!
It costs 77p per person to fund the monarchy and they bring in more from tourism alone than they cost. I'm happy to pay OL's share if it means we avoid the possibility of a President Trump, Corbyn, Truss et al. I'm all heart

The only hope you have of keeping anywhere near that percentage is if Kathrine sticks around long enough while deciding whether she puts puts duty before happiness...I of course wish her well while she comes to that decision.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 25 Jul 2024, 12:40That's still more than 2 to 1 in favour. Perhaps you are forgetting she is recovering from cancer when you mention duty vs happiness
Personally I hope she makes a full recovery and we see her back fulfilling her role in the very near future.

I wonder if he places bets on the King's horses?
Perhaps he's on one cos they have let him down a few times. I expect they do well getting the best food, the best bedding, the best jockeys, the best trainers.............all at the taxpayer's expense.

I saw a hilarious story today. Harry (remember him?) blames his rift with his family on his court battles with the media. What a laugh. So nothing to do with the interview with Oprah, the Netflix series or his book, in all of which he slagged off his relatives? No, nothing to do with any of that.

Watch out Foxy incoming projectile
I rarely backed the late Queens horses and that hasn’t changed with Charlies inherited brood… with about 80 in training they are well looked after and so they should be when you consider it costs in the region of £25k to keep one racehorse in training for a season. Apart from his dodgy dealings most of the money comes from his personal wealth estimated to be approaching £700 million.

According to the Times Rich List it's £610million which places him 258th out of 350. Rich but not as rich as you might think as most of what you see belongs to the State.Onelife wrote: 25 Jul 2024, 17:56
