I rarely backed the late Queens horses and that hasn’t changed with Charlies inherited brood… with about 80 in training they are well looked after and so they should be when you consider it costs in the region of £25k to keep one racehorse in training for a season. Apart from his dodgy dealings most of the money comes from his personal wealth estimated to be approaching £700 million.![]()

What happened to his private life away from publicity and the media gaze?

You often hear this slogan banded about… “They bring in more from tourism alone than they cost” which of course is what the Firm want you to believe, however for those of you who don’t go blindly into believing everything the firm want you to believe, some of you might find this interesting…

Don't believe everything you read on this Mickey Mouse site. This is one of many independent surveys which all point to the same conclusion. There are more but all point to the same thing. I reckon you're backing the wrong horse Keefy!!!

Re: Disgusting!!
Interesting articles Foxy which in truth gives little more than my micky mouse submission…what we need to acknowledge is tourists don’t jump in cars, boats and planes to see Charlie, Cam and the rest of the freeloaders giving us royal waves from their fleet of Bentleys and Rolls Royce’s, no they come to see the palatial life styles they live, architectural buildings, castles and their grounds. If the royals disappeared tomorrow theses historical legacy’s will still be here generating vast amounts of tourism for many years to come.
Scrap the Monarchy.

You do realise they don't live in the palatial parts of the buildings don't you, but in rather more modest apartments. The palaces are the business premises, the office. It's like living over the shop. Not a lifestyle I'd choose, and with no retirement until you're dead.Onelife wrote: 26 Jul 2024, 11:31They come to see the palatial life styles they live, architectural buildings, castles and their grounds. And of course you presumably also realise that the vast majority of the grant to the Monarchy goes towards maintaining and staffing those buildings, so the costs would be almost the same without the Monarchy.

Re: Disgusting!!
I do realise what the Royals would perceive as a modest apartment would be luxury to the likes of me and you…I wouldn’t mind betting that the picture that hangs over Charlie’s mantlepiece is worth more than our modest abodes put together.
I also realise by getting rid of much of the pomp and ceremony this would save millions in staff wages. As for the sovereign grant, massive profits could be gained by giving full year-round access to all the Crown residences…and if Charlie wants to make further contributions, he could give access to his seven palaces, 10 castles, 12 homes, 56 cottages, and 14 ancient ruins…and in doing so put Country before privilege.

I would hardly expect a republican publication to be anything other than anti monarchist, and I am sure you must have your doubts about its accuracy, which casts a great deal of doubt on your sincerity when you make these posts.Onelife wrote: 26 Jul 2024, 09:47You often hear this slogan banded about… “They bring in more from tourism alone than they cost” which of course is what the Firm want you to believe, however for those of you who don’t go blindly into believing everything the firm want you to believe, some of you might find this interesting…

Like many of your bets you would more than likely lose your money as many of those paintings belong to the StateOnelife wrote: 26 Jul 2024, 21:10I do realise what the Royals would perceive as a modest apartment would be luxury to the likes of me and you…I wouldn’t mind betting that the picture that hangs over Charlie’s mantlepiece is worth more than our modest abodes put together.
If we were a Republic we would still have the pomp and ceremony but instead of the monarch it would be a President (Trump, Putin, Boris, Truss, Corbyn?) Which one would you choose?Onelife wrote: 26 Jul 2024, 21:10I also realise by getting rid of much of the pomp and ceremony this would save millions in staff wages.
Similarly the majority of the palaces and cottages do not belong to the Royal Family but to the State and form part of the fabric of the UK. The public already have access to many of them. And whilst on the subject of ruins can I recommend a visit to Dumfries House, a country mansion which was in poor repair and whose contents were in danger of being sold off. It was purchased by the King's Foundation, renovated and priceless items of furniture and artefacts repaired which provided work for skilled craftsmen and labour for a depressed local community. He has also developed a school where craft skills can be taught and developed. Just one of Charles' initiatives in addition to his work on The Prince's Trust.Onelife wrote: 26 Jul 2024, 21:10As for the sovereign grant, massive profits could be gained by giving full year-round access to all the Crown residences…and if Charlie wants to make further contributions, he could give access to his seven palaces, 10 castles, 12 homes, 56 cottages, and 14 ancient ruins…and in doing so put Country before privilege.

With regard to my views about the Monarchy I can assure you that they are most sincere.
As for my sincerity as a whole…only those “without” a sence of humour would take most of the things I say on this forum as being serious…but you can of course can judge me as you wish.
