One thug was plainly shown on the news last night picking up a brick , I assume in someone's garden ,and throwing it at the police.
It shouldn't be that difficult for the police to identify him, assuming they don't already know him, and drag him to the courts. We then rely on a judge to send a message to thugs that we have had enough, through a sentencing that reflects the crime.
What happened last night, based solely on what they had read on social media was truly disgraceful and showed no respect for those caught up in this terrible tragedy. It is more than likely the muslims in the area were just as appalled as we were by what had happened, in fact, it's feasible some of their own children could have been attending the dance class.
It rather reminds me of the vandalism done to the house of a surgeon who worked in pediatrics. The numbskulls didn't realise it had nothing to do with paedophilia!!!
I was pleased to see that the local population turned out this morning to sweep and clear up the mess.
As an aside I see the name of the perpetrator of these murders cannot be divulged because he is under 18 and therefore not an adult. And yet the Labour party want to give the vote to the 16 year olds. Am I misunderstanding the logic here?
I don't go along with this 'Children don't realise what they are doing ' excuse. From an early age they have a strong sense of right from wrong and they know exactly what they are doing.
If, at 17 years old he is tobe considered old enough to vote he is old enough to be named. With privilege comes responsibility and you can't have one without the other. (Presuming they have the right suspect!)

No misunderstanding in my opinion Foxy…most 16-year-olds don’t have the life experiences to make informed political choices, they are easily influenced through the crap they watch on their i phones and would vote along the same lines as their friends and peer groups.
My view on naming and shaming is that it should only be done when they have been found guilty through the court process, not before.
Thinking on this a little further I don’t think a large proportion of eligible voter’s vote based on sound political understanding, most vote on what they think will bennift themselves and less so what is right for the country. Now I haven’t given this a lot of thought so I’m prepared to be persuaded otherwise… but could it be that more political education/debate should be practiced in schools, with the understanding that it is monitored to avoid teacher personal bias. Having a more politically informed student would give a more balanced view on reaching the age of when they are eligibility to vote… and beyond…under these circumstances 16 could be an acceptable age to vote? The biggest bennift to this would be that with a more informed voting public the political parties would have to take us more seriously and in doings so think more seriously about how they win our votes.
I know we will never have only those paying taxes getting a vote, but I do think the idea of giving the vote to 16 year olds is cynically based on they're more likely to vote Labour because they'll get the handouts without paying for them.
I don't blame them Stephen, unarmed against machete wielding idiots wanting to harm each other, didn't look as if the wider public were at risk, they were fighting amongst themselves, just a shame they didn't kill each other.
Police officers may have a baton and spray but that's no deterrent and not worth the risk, the sooner we arm all of our police officers the better, until then the best thing is to observe and witness until armed units arrive.
The Judge is trying to take the heat out of the unrest.
The suspect in the Southport stabbings has been named as Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, 17. He is 18 in a few days time .
In reply to David. It became difficult to get a doctors appointment at the surgery, now it's a job just for a phone consultation .
Why is everyone so suddenly ill, whereas prior to covid appointments were quite easy.
Poor pay and working conditions = poor retention = fewer doctors = fewer appointments. Successive governments have taken them for granted and this is the consequence.

Strange then Foxy when there are now 54500 GPs up from 48500 in 2010.

But how many have opted to become locums instead of group GPs?
Our own practice used to have 10 doctors. Now there's just one, the rest being locums and registrars. Statistics don't always tell the full story.
My niece's daughter has qualified as a doctor and guess what she is doing. Then she is considering following her career in Australia because of the situation in the NHS.

Is that full time working or does it count part timers?

I didn't compile the stats, I am Just reporting them but what is the difference between a group GP and a Locum, assuming they both put in a full shift then they should cover the same number of appointments.
If a GP opts to work 3 or 4 days a week then the practice will need to employ a part time GP or a locum to provide 5 day cover. So 2 medics required to provide 5 day cover.

That stat is incorrect because the same locum could also be covering 2 other part time GPs at other practices.
