Don't care - just as long as we can win medals at it

Yet another problem at the Marseille Marina with the kite windsurfing (whatever that is!). Not been a good Olympics for events there.

What a lovely moment to watch Sky Brown, the skateboarding young girl, receive her Bronze Medal. Her face was a pure picture of enjoyment.
It's something other sports people could learn from when not being the winner, and taking their reward with a look of they have just sucked on a sour lemon.
England football team come to mind.
Don't worry, be happy

She's amazing. Only 16 and two Olympic medals already. The latest after suffering a dislocated shoulder.

I struggle recognising some of these sporting activities as Olympic events, I think they devalue the spectacle of sporting excellence/achievement as a whole.

What don’t you like about them Foxy? I think being white they stand out. I could easily be convinced otherwise if I’m not seeing what you are seeing ;) :)

They don't fit. Look like one size fits all.
The black band around the waist looks naff, more Primani than designer.
The black bits around the ankles look odd and add nothing to the white tracksuit bottoms.
At the side of everybody else's they look even worse.
Apart from that they're alright 👍

I hadn’t realised how small Simone Biles is, standing just over 4 feet 7 inches, she however isn’t the smallest athlete to compete as this record goes to Rosario Briones 1.27 m (4' 2") a Mexican gymnast who performed back in 1968

Well that explains everything. My height is against me. If I was 4'7" I could do it too.

Here's a question. Is the way the Olympics medal table is calculated fair? China top the table because they got 40 golds. But US in second place with 39 golds actually got 125 overall against China's 91. We came 7th with 14 golds, but were third on overall medals. At the extreme a team that got one gold and nothing else would beat a team with 200 medals if they were all bronze and silver. Should they change to a system where gold scored say 3 points, silver 2 and bronze 1 in order to calculate the overall ranking? Or is gold really the only medal that really counts?

Excellent question Sir Merv, nothing springs to mind why your suggestion shouldn’t be considered…There is already a recognition that Gold is a bigger achievement than silver or bronze so by using a points system of let’s say 4-2-1 you are recognising that 4 points is better than 2 and 1 respectively but you are also recognising which country has done better overall.

Currently according to the Beeb this is the state of play:
1. USA
2. China
3. Japan
4. Australia
5. France
6. Holland
7. GB
Using OL's scoring system matters change appreciably:
1. USA
2. China
3.France
4. GB
5. Australia
6. Japan
7. Holland

Go and get it sorted Keefy although I don't think the Aussies or Japanese will be happy with it.
