Covid Jabs - again

Flu jab next month for me. Didn't wait for invite just booked with local pharmacy.

Apparently, pharmacies are only allowed to administer jabs in the backside according to NHS direct …you’ll no doubt love that?

Just booked our Covid and Flu jabs. Right palaver though. Booked through the NHS website and when I got to the final stage my PC antivirus software decided the site was trying to download a phishing virus and blocked it. After two tries I gave up and did it on my phone instead.

You’ll have two sore arms John! I’m still trying to get through to my surgery to make an appointment for the flu jab - driving me mad. The health board administer the Covid jab and send the appointment so that’s easier but they’ll be done separately. Are you having the new RSV jab?

Us too Jan. I'm usually feeling a bit rough the day after my Covid jabs (headaches, sore arm, listless) so although they don't know it yet we are going to separate them. I think we'll give the RSV jab a miss as well. How many more jabs can they drum up? Not really sure how much good it does to keep pumping different concoctions into you.

I don’t know about separating them Foxy…. why don’t you try cutting down to one bottle a day, this should help with the side effects

All the jabs open up first week October here, just as I go on holiday. Would have liked them before, but will have to get them on our return at end of the month.

I think when you reach 80 they reckon that either you're made of strong stuff and will reach 100 with or without the jab, or you're going to turn up your toes soon so it's not worth the expense.

I think when you reach 80 they reckon that either you're made of strong stuff and will reach 100 with or without the jab, or you're going to turn up your toes soon so it's not worth the expense.

You reckon this may be another Labour govt cost saving measure then, deny pensioners the winter fuel allowance, so they shiver and catch RSV, then deny them the vaccine so they pop their clogs?

At the end of the day far too many pensioners were getting these free handouts and something needed to be done about it…. according to the labour party those in receipt of Pension Credit or certain other means-tested benefits will still receive winter fuel payments…that’s not to say others won’t shiver this winter, but it is a way of clearing the field to make way for a system that really does help those in need.

The whole saga could have been handled so much better, full amount to those claiming pension credit, reduced amount to everyone else and nothing to those in the top tax bracket.
I am yet to be convinced that the so called £22billion black hole can be bridged by targeting pensioners for a measly (in global terms) £1.2billion. It hardly scratches the surface.
Ironically if everybody claimed pension credit plus winter fuel payment it would virtually wipe out the savings Starmer & Co are looking to make

I have wondered the same, getting everyone entitled to Pension credit signed up, then giving them the winter fuel allowance might not wipe out the entire saving.
But I honestly cannot understand why a labour Chancellor would hace risked the current backlash for such a puny saving, even if many pensioners don't really need it. It would have made far more sense for a Labout govt to have hit the higher earners, and gone down well with their members and the unions.

They thought they could fund free meals for school children and reform the NHS by abolishing the non-dom status. B****y arrogant fools didn't anticipate these people would simply upsticks and take their money with them.
The sight of Reeve standing at the podium congratulating herself on becoming the first female Chancellor was nauseating. Could do better .
