Peninsular Club Calendar 2025

Unread post by CaroleF »

A Peninsular Club Calendar arrived this morning, rather different from previous years. It's a desk calendar, it will stand up and, what did surprise me, there's a biro included, never had a pen as well before. It must be more expensive to produce than previous years whereas I expected they would be cutting spending and it wouldn't have surprised me if P&O had done away with it altogether. I know slippers are still given on ships but do they still have those tiny pins that you used to get when you moved from one loyalty level to the next? I never wore any of mine but I came across one of John's tucked away in a drawer the other day. I'm now back down to Caribbean level whereas I was Baltic for quite a while but what with Covid and then John's illness I've slipped down.

I came across a friend the other day who I hadn't seen for a few years. He used to work for P&O and was in charge of Excursions but he was made redundant around the time of Covid I believe. I said that I thought my cruise on Arcadia next June may well be my last with P&O and he said he wasn't surprised. He said that he's heard the same from many long term P&O cruisers, many of them heading either to Cunard (same owners I know) or to Saga. I would quite like to do one final cruise with Aurora but I'll have to see.

Same here Carole.

We have a two week med cruise booked on Azura next year. It may well be our last with P&O.

Sounds good. We’ll have to see what the postie brings. Having said that the last few calendars have been pretty disappointing. We have lined up an unused 1997 P&O calendar entitled ‘Farewell to an Era 1961-1997’
The dates match 2025 and the pictures of Canberra are pretty good.
I think we may have got two copies that year & put one aside but this is the first year that the dates coincided with me remembering to look out the calendar.

The official one has just arrived and we like it. It’s more traditional views including the ships which we prefer.

Got mine today - like the pen, not as keen on the calendar as I prefer a wall calendar.

Not had one for years. I must have ticked a box somewhere.

My calendar arrived this morning - prefer one that hangs on the wall tbh. After closer examination I realised that each month has a tear-off post card next to the dates - thought it was just a photo!

Yep, mine was in the post box today when we returned after Christmas shopping in the City. Also there was a nice full size one from Viking Cruises wall hung. We only asked for a brochure during the year, not sailed with them.
Plus, our friends in Gibraltar along with their Christmas Card , always send a full size calendar with depictions of old Gibraltar (changes every year) from the Gibraltar Heritage Society.

Ours arrived too,the first one we’ve had,but seeing as we’ve only been on one cruise as Baltic it was something I wasn’t expecting. The pen will come in handy.

Get a compo form from Stephen. Bugger, you are Stephen.
Whilst in the City we popped into our T/A Fred Olsen where we had mince pies and Prosecco.

I don’t think so. But never say never.
