You can say what you like about OL(Mr Whiplash), he doesn't venture down here.

Say what you like about Merv, but he will be spinning his shellac records midday on Moorland Radio.
Sadly I will be in the spirit (literally)of Christmas at that time, and he would like some of you to join him along with the other listener, so he's not alone.
Merry Christmas Merv and Trish.

Please don't bother me for the rest of the week. Got a new phone for Christmas. It'll be 2025 by the time I've worked out how to transfer everything from the old one....

If it's a Samsung they have an automatic transfer feature that is easy to follow, if it's a iPhone throw it away now before it drives you to suicide.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 25 Dec 2024, 18:56Please don't bother me for the rest of the week. Re: Last One to Post Wins
Plenty of help via Mr Google and YouTube how to easily do this, or just take both phones into the shop and let them do it.

Blessedly it is a Samsung so fingers crossed. If you never hear from me again you'll know why!

Last time I changed my iPhone I simply held it next to old iPhone and it automatically copied onto new one. Don’t know what the fuss is about - easy peasy

Agree Jan, but we are talking about Merv here.
Not sure you can transfer data between string and two coke cans onto the latest tech phone

My phones sat chatting for half an hour. The only tricky bit was when they started asking for various passwords and expected me to remember them!

Re: Last One to Post Wins
One thing that caused me confusion was the saved passwords on Google. I have 3 or 4 different accounts on Google but only one has my main passport manager, unfortunately my new phone opted to use one of the minor accounts as the main one, so initially I thought I had lost them all and was going to have to input all the saved Web pages I used regularly. Fortunately I spotted the problem and once I switched accounts miraculously my sign in data reappeared.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 26 Dec 2024, 18:13My phones sat chatting for half an hour. I guess youngsters would never have these sort of problems, it all comes second nature to them.

Re: Last One to Post Wins
My password manager is still a trusty notebook but just on the off chance someone breaks in and takes it ....i've added an extra letter / number in a certain place that I ignore when putting in a password that will hopefully confuse a possible thief.
As for this forum....I know my password without having to write it down.
I think maybe I should really get more up to date and think seriously about getting a password manager for my computer ....I still don't want to do that on my smartphone because so many are being stolen ....over 39,000 from Jan 2023 - Oct 2023

It's annoying when a site tells you it's the wrong password, when you know it's correct . Then you have to re enter new one, or in my case the old one, and if not excepted, I add a number to it.
