Football 24/25

Unread post by towny44 »

Surprised that there seems to have been no football posts so far this season!! Well I am but maybe not Merv. :sarcasm: :problem:
Anyway I thought after today's Manchester Derby it was worth commenting on the fact that now Man City have gone 11 games with only 1 win. Pep Guardiola looked stunned after today's game, and this is now his worst spell in his career by a country mile.
However it does show that even great teams with great managers need confidence to produce good results, and it will be interesting to see how soon Pep can turn things round.

It will no doubt be rectified when they play us!!! Totally pathetic performance from my lot on Saturday. Roll on the next transfer window.

Good news for Man City supporters....you're playing us tomorrow. We played Liverpool with 5 of our first team out injured so hopefully we can have two or three back. Be lucky to get anything but hoping we can make a few inspired signings in the New Year otherwise it's curtains for us and I doubt we will be back so soon next time.

What is happening at Man Utd ? they have lost three home games in a row yet the last time they lost three successive home league games was in 1979 - Next they play Liverpool away....Will they get lucky and get a draw ? They are 14th in the table.....will they go lower ?
I read that Man Utd are about to sack goal keeper coach Tony Coton and Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not impressed with his goal keepers

Haven't seen the video, but I've been told VAR was not kind to Chelsea last night.
Don't worry, be happy

If league two had VAR, our result last night would have been a draw.
Their forward clearly handled the ball into the net and none of the officials spotted it.
I was watching on Sky and it was so obvious to everyone bar them.

Unites woes this season are down to the total ineptitude of the previous CEO Ed Woodward and his band of Glazer supporters. The decisions made by these Non Football people have left the Club high and dry, yes ,the new regime are culpapable with the decision to award ETH a contact extension, then to sack him , costing millions in pay offs and replacing him.
The Woodward regime pays millions over the odds for average players on big contracts which Utd can’t shift because of the wages.Who in their right mind thought it was sensible to give Rashford, a totally overrated player IMO a huge raise to £325k a week.? Casemiro,an ageing player on £300 k a week, I could go on. Back to Eth, Ineos. Allowed him to spend £200 million before sacking him .!! Incredible, these leave little or no money to spend.
Players just aren’t good enough,no fight,no spirit. They can’t pass, tackle or head the ball.!
63 years of supporting the and this is the worst bunch I’ve ever seen. It all comes down to a decade of total mismanagement since Fergie an Gill retired.
Rant over, I’m going for a lay down.

Maybe there is something wrong with the Manchester water, since City are having similar problems.

It's gotta be Liverpool to win the Premier League hasn't it ...but Nottingham Forest seem to be chugging along and winning.....the odds for them to win the league are 50/1 maybe a worth a £5 outside bet for fun.
If Arsenal lose to Newcastle tonight and forest beat Liverpool next Tuesday it might change the betting odds ....you can even get Chelsea at 70/1.

Yay.
Another new manager for the Gills.
The 4th since the American takeover two years ago.
I used to joke with Manoverboard about Watford shenanigans but we seem to be following.
Mark Bonner is a lovely guy but the target was made very clear when he took the job pre season.
I did expect him to at least see the season out but no, Scouse hard man John Coleman gets part two of the season to put a marker down.

Mohamed Salah signs a new contract with Liverpool for 2 years......an amazing £375,000 a week

How will he spend all that money....he already owns several luxury vehicles, including an Audi Q7, a Toyota Camry, a Lamborghini Aventador, and also.....a Bentley Continental GT

Up till yesterday most would have thought it would be a Aston Villa v Man City final but last night Palace showed how much they want to win by beating Villa 3-0. Will under-dogs Nottingham Forest be able to shatter Man Citys dreams and make the final against Palace....that is the question

A Forest v Palace final would be ideal. A Forest victory would be a fitting end to their remarkable season.

Not to be. They were unfortunate to hit the woodwork three times but for the greater part they were outplayed. O'Reilly was in tremendous form. It was a pleasure to watch.

A pity that one of Forests 2nd half chances did not go in, that could have inspired a nail biting end for City fans.

Hopefully we will see the end of Pep's possession keep ball. For all their possession City were shot shy providing little endeavour or excitement as they passed the ball around going nowhere.
Nice to see one of the smaller clubs winning against one of the big boys. Impressed by their ability to break with quick incisive passes followed by a great finish.

Whatever the result today so pleased to see Jamie Vardy score his 200th league goal in his 500th and final game for City. What a journey that has been.

Just looking at the almost final PL table, and the gulf between the bottom 3 and the rest is colossal, 13 plus points and the goal difference is huge, minus 44-59, whilst the worst of rest is minus 18.
I wonder if any promoted championship team is going to manage to bridge that gap and establish themselves in the PL in future.
