Irrespective of who is in charge I would think a trade deal with America would benefit us all, as would collaboration with the EU.

In onelifes utopian world everyone would play nicely together but being realistic one has to play with the cards you are dealt with….

Apparently so, it’s called ‘Radio Caroline North’ even though it’s based somewhere down Kent way I believe. Weekends it’s broadcast from the original Caroline North ship the Ross Revevenger..

That's bringing back fond memories. Radio Caroline on 199mts, your all day music station. And the presenters known by most of us ..... Tony Blackburn, Roger Gale, Ray Teret, Simon Dee, Tony Prince, Spangles Muldoon, Keith Skues, Johnnie Walker, Robbie Dale, Dave Lee Travis, Tommy Vance, Tom Edwards, Bob Stewart, Andy Archer and Emperor Rosko.

Glenfield tower, pull the thing down and build some badly needed houses in it's place.
A tasteful memorial to those that died in the tower can be placed there for those that need something to remember their loved ones .
The thought that it should remain (it's in danger of collapse) is sickening, who wants to look at that thing every time you pass ,to remind you of the suffering that went on inside the inferno in their last dying moments.
Luckily it's past saving and the quicker it's down the better.

I do agree with you Ray but there will those who rightfully think the removal of the tower will allow those responsible for using flammable construction materials to get away with manslaughter?Ray B wrote: 06 Feb 2025, 18:39Glenfield tower, pull the thing down and build some badly needed houses in it's place.

Wow Caroline! If my memory serves me well there were two wavelengths for Caroline - I can’t remember which was which. 199m & 256m. We couldn’t get the original Caroline (was that 256m?) but wu could get Caroline (N) 199m. I thought Caroline (N) broadcast from somewhere off the Firth of Clyde.screwy wrote: 06 Feb 2025, 13:24Apparently so, it’s called ‘Radio Caroline North’ even though it’s based somewhere down Kent way I believe. We did however get reasonably good pirate broadcast from Radio 270 (270m) which I think was somewhere off the Humber Estuary.
These are just my memories - they may be littered with errors & I would be happy to be corrected.
Radio Luxembourg (207m?) reception was pretty ropey on Tyneside and so we rarely listened to it. We did get good reception of AFN (American Forces Network) which had some good shows.
Most of these stations were listened to on a second hand Emerson transistor radio (7 transistors it proudly proclaimed on its case!) The big Philips wireless (with ‘Magic Eye’ tuning) gave booming bass with little treble. This wasn’t used much but did a lovely dial with fascinating and mysterious names Hilversum, Athlone, Munster, Wien(-where was that? I wondered & still caused confusion years later when InterRailing)

Hi Ranchi,
Caroline North was indeed on199m, the ship was anchored in Ramsey Bay off the Isle of Man.
Luxembourg was 208m.

Good memories Ranchi. Our time from the mid 50s to 2000 was the best, and I can not see anything like it ever again. Pubs, disco's, dance halls, cheep outdoor concerts by the top artists and all types of music, the choice was truly fantastic. And most importantly, no one carries knives.

It will be well documented now and the tower itself is just a shell. Swept clean of all that was left, no human remains or personal possessions.Onelife wrote: 06 Feb 2025, 19:02I do agree with you Ray but there will those who rightfully think the removal of the tower will allow those responsible for using flammable construction materials to get away with manslaughter?Ray B wrote: 06 Feb 2025, 18:39Glenfield tower, pull the thing down and build some badly needed houses in it's place.

I'm sure it will all be done with care and respect for the relatives of those that died.
The legal bit will be a battle ,that's for sure.

More problems for TV presenters, this time it's Gino D'Acampo's turn to face accusations of inappropriate behaviour.

On balance I would much rather be his friend despite how much sucking up it requires...I mean, do we have a choice?

A TV reporter lightheartedly suggested how the meeting with Putin and Trump went.
Hi Vlad, reply Hi Donald, so let's talk on how we carve the world up, so we each get some of the countries that we really want and then the rest we will share amongst ourselves.

If he can end the war that would be brilliant, but not if the result is a victory for Russian aggression.
But given the orange man baby wants to take over Greenland and Gaza I suppose he sees nothing wrong in Putin's behaviour.
