Trump’s Palestinian solution

Unread post by Onelife »

I think he could be right looking at what the Palestinian people are returning too. Moving the Palestinian people from what they perceive to be their homeland may be seen as wrong but looking at the alternatives I don’t see much hope for Gaza. The problem is that nobody wants a nation of people controlled by a resistance group whose ideology is to do to Israel what Trump has suggested doing to them.

In the present situation with thousands returning to Gaza I don’t think it will be long before we start hearing cases of Cholera and Typhoid breaking out due to poor sanitation…if this does prove to be the case then perhaps Trump is justified in what he is suggesting, but perhaps not for the reason he has stated?

Currently that is the only suggestion that anyone has come up with - however it is not going to happen.

Apparently the neighbouring countries don't want them because they fear they will change their culture, no doubt concerned about them importing the Hamas element onto their own land.
I was taught to be cautious

So we follow Israel's genocide wirh Trump's ethnic cleansing? The Palestinians have as much rightful claim on the territory as Israel and the same right to a peaceful life. There is no right and wrong here. Both sides have behaved appallingly for decades. If Trump is so clever and powerful he should be batting for a two state solution with an international peace keeping force. Not siding with one gang of butchers over another. That will not bring lasting peace to anyone.

Is he more looking at the prime real estate angle. The beach settings would have tourists flocking there with what would a gold mine of hotels.
Move the locals out ,clear the rubble and pow! Costa del Trump.
Don't worry, be happy

That sounds like a big improvement on what was there before.

Let's see what Egypt's suggestion is before we jump to any conclusions

The whole prosses around rebuilding Gaza would be a lot easier if Hamas were to be removed, only then will there be any chance of meaningful negotiations between Israel and what one would hope will be a more moderate leadership.

The most crucial thing is that Gaza negotiates a better way forward with Israel, one where they can be less dependent on aid to one where they can be more economical sufficient both in imports and trade. One of the ways this could be achieved would be if Israel were to lift the port blockades which have curtailed any chance of Gaza being able to become more self-sufficient. Building a port that can accommodate much larger ships would be the starting point to from which Gaza could see a better future…this, sadly will never happen while Hamas are in power.

I see no point in rebuilding Gaza if the same regime/ideology persists, there will be no future without change and if they are rebuilding to carry on the hardship that the Palestinian people have endured over many decades then Trumps suggestion has more merit than we give it credit for. Imo.

The whole process would be easier if Netanyahu was removed too. His decisions are entirely based on his political survival and take no account of the good of either the Israeli or Palestinian population.
