Re: And we don't have to pay any tax... dad.
"The King is not legally required to pay taxes, but he does voluntarily pay income tax on some of his earnings:
Income tax: The King voluntarily pays income tax on income from the Duchy of Lancaster and personal investments. The amount of tax he pays is not made public.
Capital gains tax: The King voluntarily pays capital gains tax in certain circumstances.
Inheritance tax: The King is exempt from inheritance tax on the money he received from Queen Elizabeth's death.
The King's private income comes from:
The Duchy of Lancaster, which he oversees as the Sovereign
Investments
Inherited wealth
The King also receives a sovereign grant from the government each year to cover official duties and running costs".
Taken from Google. This suggests to me there is little evidence, if at all, that business is conducted behind 'impregnable closed doors' any more than wealthy high earners. You'll not find any of them on PAYE.

The link you have posted is perhaps the most ambiguous load of codswallop statements I’ve read in a long time….there was no mention of his offshore accounts or the money he stashes under the floorboards?

.....and you have the evidence to substantiate your claim? Or not? Or just a figment of imagination which cannot be substantiated. Perhaps you know something the rest of us don't know.
If you are going to make these claims you need to provide the evidence otherwise they're just opinions which have no basis in fact.

I can’t vouch for what he has under his floorboards but it is well documented that your King Charlie has/maybe still holds some very dubious dealings with offshore accounts…. As for my reference to his personal wealth then I think you will find that the £billions I mentioned isn’t far from the truth, especially when you throw in his string of horse racing interests, private homes (no inheritance tax to pay) jewellery etc, etc …Source, Forbes.

But my dear friend, there's no evidence to substantiate your claims, only hearsay based on your own prejudices.

You could have used ‘Assumption’ to that of “just a suspicious hunch but no basis in truth”oldbluefox wrote: 28 Dec 2024, 21:28In other words just a suspicious hunch but no basis in truth. "Perceptive personality "....I like it![]()

If a major chunk of his £777m is made up of stately homes and green belt farmland, then it's really not worth counting. The stately homes require an enormous amount of upkeep, and farmland, as Rachel is finding out, is really worth far less than any arbittary market price..

I don’t suppose you could arrange for ‘towny’ to be inspecting it while you’re filling it in, could you?

As a Newbie on the forum , I quite enjoy reading Onelifes posts . I get it that to some they can be a bit repetitive and maybe even boring to others but sometimes I find some of Onelifes posts quite interesting and I've even seen the odd post where others have understood his point of view ( but not the republican onesOnelife wrote: 01 Jan 2025, 12:33towny wrote:

I like the way you can have a difference of opinions on here in a rather fun way however I'm not ready to be converted to being a Republican

Hi Portsmouth, I thank you for your 4* review of Onelifes contributions to the forum (it would however have been better had you left out your reference to repetitive and boring) I have known and tolerated towny (John) for many years and have accepted that it is just part of his genetic makeupPortsmouth wrote: 01 Jan 2025, 13:18As a Newbie on the forum , I quite enjoy reading Onelifes posts . The continued success of any forum depends on existing, and more importantly, new members taking the plunge and joining in with discussions but also, as you have done, posting sensible cruise questions which hopefully draw other members into the forum.
Thank you once again for setting a fine example to my detractors

The forum seems to have been lacking topics of discussion this past couple of weeks…if this carries on, I might have to start a few rumours about Willy and Kate’s freebie holidays

Then we could also talk about Megan returning from the Invictus games in a private jet 4 days ago that some say created six tonnes of CO2 and used 800 gallons of fuel.
What was that award they got.......environmental 'role models' in 2021.

Clearly an award richly deserved, which is more than be said about Willy “Earthshot” who uses private jets for his Island-hopping holidays. At least Harry and the lovely Meghan were representing something worthwhile… while Willy and Kate swan off on their all expenses paid holidays at our expense.

Perhaps, just perhaps, they were in need of some downtime after having endured the last 12 months with cancer hovering over their heads.
Just a thought.

Perhaps you are right, then again considering the amount of time they take off in any one year (apparently amounting to around one hundred days a year) it certainly gives them every opportunity to recuperate while making full use of their homes at Sandringham Estate at Anmer Hall, Balmoral Castle and the Caribbean Island of Mustique.
I of course wish Kate well and hope an exception was made in not stopping her statuary sick pay.

No! smash the bowl and let them out…. don’t you just love Harry and Meghan for showing them that there is a happy life outside of the extortionately expensive Gold fish bowl.
