Where are we all going on holiday in the next 12 months

Unread post by Ray B »

Let's try to get a thread going on, 'Where are we all going on holiday in the next 12 months', with interaction.
Whatever type of holiday, be it a tent, hotel, ships, home or abroad and no need to put the date, just a bit of fun. We will see how it goes. OK, I'll kick it off.
So, we will be going on Azura during August and treating my daughter and granddaughter, it was granddaughters 21st
Birthday wish.
After Christmas the missus and me have a 40 night cruise to the Caribbean from Tilbury.
Famous Delia Smith shout---Let's be having you.

A week in a N Wales holiday villa in July with eldest Son and wife and DIL's mother. Two week Canarys cruise on Iona in September, then a 5 week round trip Caribbean cruise on Iona in Jan 2026.

Week in June to the fjords on Iona just me and son’s in-laws. Week in August with son and daughter in law and her parents to a cottage in the Lake District. Lastly a week in October half term again with son DIL and in-laws on Ventura to Spain/France. I envy you Ray and John doing longer cruises I’m guessing over to the Caribbean in the winter months. I’ve had some fantastic cruises in the Caribbean - Christmas ones were so special with my granddaughters.

One place I will not be going is America - or any American cruise line, hotel chain or anything remotely connected with America.

I have already cancelled a Cunard cruise and a Pricess cruise for this year.

Not sure saying WHEN you are away on an online forum is a good idea.

Baltic cruise, Madeira, Anglesey, Lake District, Peak District, Warner Hotelshave.

I wonder if Towny's Canaries jaunt calls in Madeira while we're there.

I share your concern allatc, but there is no need to put dates, just a chance to get some posts to keep us all interested in something.

Jan, we have gradually been building to longer cruises, I think this one is long enough. With the 40 nighter and the Azura this year,I can ensure that the pot is getting low, so maybe going forward, a bit of belt tightening may be necessary. :o

In no particular order:
we've got a few days in Warners Littlecote;
a few days in Lincoln rellie visiting ( probably);
and the biggie: Eurostar to Paris, Orient Express to Venice , a couple of days in Venice , then fly back.

Booked Arcadia for next year

Looks suspiciously like a typo to me. But to be sure I'll have a shave while we're there! 😂

Warner Hotel Holidays seems like a good idea but and I haven't yet been to one although one thing I've always wondered about is the evening entertainment.
How do you know if you are getting a decent seat or do last minute guests in the cheaper rooms get a table at the back? I heard that if you have the best rooms then you get the premium positions in the dining room. Does anyone know ? Maybe it's just like being on a cruise where certain seats are reserved in the showroom/theatre.

Meg 50, Orient Express to Venice. Now that does look like class.

Warner Hotel shave, maybe it's something the concierge books on the side.

I’ve enjoyed a few longer cruises Ray but the friends I used to travel with after my husband died no longer cruise as much so now rely on family who simply can’t do long cruises as they are still working. I enjoy days at sea but I know this puts some off.

I understand Allatc’s concern about putting our future holidays online something I’d never do on Facebook but alarms and good neighbours reassure me plus South Wales covers a wide area!

A few days in London followed by our maiden Ambassador cruise out of Newcastle then up to Scotland for a week at Coo Palace. I'll probably try to sneak something else in if I can.

The arrangements vary place to place, with some having eating and entertainment venues combined and some separate. At the ones we've been to I don't think the room booked was a factor.

A cruise to Northern Europe and Scandinavia taking in places I've never been to like Lithuania and Latvia taking my sister-in-law who's never cruise and hoping she'll enjoy it! Then a couple of visits to my favourite hotel near Windsor including a three night stay near Christmas to celebrate my birthday and John's anniversary, not sure I'll be able to do anything else. As Meg said, when you depend on other people it's not so easy.

We have no holidays planned for summer, mainly because we live about 200 yards from the beach and have family and friends coming down every few weeks through out the summer.
I’ll also add that we have between us, about a six thousand quid dental bill because we live in a dental dessert and it’s taken us about four years to get on the books of a private dentist. There are literally no NHS dentists in Devon or Cornwall.
So, next holiday is Azura repositioning cruise Malta to Tenerife in October, then January cruise around the Canaries.
Then Arvia in September 2026
Then, probably the end of cruising.
We have bucket list things to do before we get old.

It's nice to see there is quite a spread of different holiday and breaks that we are going on.
Barney, that sounds rather painful, not the dentist but the bill. I think the dentist situation maybe across the country for NHS, it certainly is here in Norfolk as well.
One thing I notice is, no one taking a camping holiday.
Maybe most of us are pushing on in years to be able to keep bending down to knock in the pegs.
We are fortunate to have a chalet next to the beach, just 20 miles from home,(not classed as a second home I may add.)
So simular to Barney, we havel lots of good times at the coast during the year. We do have a lot of interesting places to visit in the county for the odd day out.

I'd I tried to get Trish on a camping holiday you'd probably hear about my untimely death on the news.
