Goodness me, this is a long thread about someone who isn't even a member of this forum

Isn't the Monocled Mutineer a bit old hat now?

In the last few months on the P&O forum he had turned into a parody of himself, surely he now needs to be left in the past where he belongs.

He surely isn't that interesting to warrant a 17 page thread on a forum he doesn't belong to.

Is it possible to forget about him and move on now?

I'm glad you've said that Gill because I was only thinking the same yesterday.

As far as I'm aware it has been made known to MM that we are here and on more than one occasion people have said they would like to see him join, his choice and obviously one he doesn't wish to persue.

I think being a new forum has it's advantages, I find myself chatting to people that even though they may have been around on the old forum I never connected with them, of course being able to quote has it's advantages whereas before you would respond to someone only to find there were 20/30 replies between a question and your answer and even then it could be hours before your post even appeared

We have needed a user friendly forum like this for years and I know I am not alone in thanking David for giving us it. :D :D

I agree, Jo, and at the risk of being hypocritical (because I've posted before on this thread) I am uncomfortable that the thread has continued behind Mr Kane's back, andf I apologise for my part in it.

Alan,

I tend to agree with you but if we were to delete / lock it then ' somebody ' will raise another one

We are however mindful of the concern and will remove, else edit, postings that are deemed ott re the Mutineer in his absence.

No apology needed Alan and I certainly don't think you are hypocritical the only point I was making was that I agreed with Gill W about the length of a thread about someone who isn't even a member, general comments I wouldn't deem as being said behind someone's back in fact many of them have been complimentary.

I am certainly someone who didn't always agree with him but I have met him and he is absolutely charming which I have said on more than one occasion.

Elsewhere on a forum where I post, there seems to be a consensus, that it is bad forum etiquette and impolite to enquire about members, who for what ever reason have not posted on the forum for some time. Also to ask pertinent questions as to where they are or what they might be doing.

On here we have a thread that is now 5 pages, and 166 posts long, about somebody who is not and has never been a member of this forum. For me if anything constitutes bad forum etiquette, this does, especially as that person, is not in a position to reply, whether the comments be good or bad.
