I wouldn’t bet against Angela Rayner making the line up for Strictly next year. :)

I was expecting Liz Truss and Jacob Rees-Mogg last year. I hear he's great at the Minuet and Gavotte.

Poor Mr Starmer. It's hard to soar with eagles when you work with turkeys. When you're pulling names out of a hat you're rather limited.

As pleased as I am that she's gone I wouldn't bet against her being back in the front line within a year. Starmer needs someone like her to pacify the far left of the Labour party. When I saw that picture of her in that dinghy last weekend I must admit to thinking, Could this person really end up as PM one day? Should be unthinkable but maybe not.

Quite by accident I came across this interesting fact:

Angela Raynor's net worth is reported to be £4.7 million 0https://www.nationalworld.com/news/uk/angela-ra ... ey-5304018)

How on earth has she amassed that amount, certainly not as a carer.

I doubt its realistic, however she is going to struggle to service the £650,00 mortgage on the Hove flat on a mere MPs salary, although I imagine a wealthy Unison donor will be lined up to lend a helping hand.

I might be wrong but isn’t she barred from the front bench because of breaking the ministerial code.?

On past performance, the bans seem to have a short lifespan.

Sir Keir's new idea is to move illegals from Hotels into ex army camps, did he not oppose that when getting into power?
Another influx across the channel, I believe they set a new highest number of crossings in a day.
As a charity, the RNLI are there to go to the aid of those in trouble on the sea. Why then are they acting like a Uber service to the boats with illegals in. Those boats are not in danger, until they are in danger, then the lifeboat service should respond.
Maybe the French are waiting for a few more £m to be thrown their way.
Don't worry, be happy

We’ve lost the battle Ray, not a cat in hells chance of returning all these illegal immigrants. We’ve spent far too much time thinking about what we should do instead of detaching ourselves from the emotional/human rights side of things and doing what should have been done.
This country will regret (big time) the ridiculous way our politicians have handled this.

If, as seems likely, the group of hackers responsible for the M&S and JLR hacks, are westerners, or UK citizens, then the Govt needs to offer them a multi million pound contract to direct all their efforts against Russia, China, N Korea, Iran etc. As well as providing high quality IT defense against attacks on major UK government and business software systems.

Most of the techies at GCHQ and the National Cyber Security Centre are/were hackers - hacking is a route to a proper job these days.

I have no doubt that we already do have teams of hackers covertly tapping into other systems. both those of allies and foes, to gather information about what each other is doing. There will be strong security arrangements around sensitive documents which work pretty well unless somebody does something stupid like allowing access to unauthorised personnel or leaving their laptop on public transport. Hacking is a sport which all countries participate in.
At a local level hacking is an irritating and expensive inconvenience.

On the news last night there was a bit about the next deputy leader of the Labour Party and a previous incumbent (Harriet Harman) was advocating that it must be a woman. WHY? Surely as in any other walk of life the position should be filled by the most suitable candidate.

This is one of the few Trump policies that I agree with - there is too much of appointing people to positions based on their gender/ethnicity/sexual orientation/religion/where they were born/etc. - best person for the job, simple.

I see that Trump is threatening Russia with more sanctions after the bombing over the weekend. I bet Putin is shaking in his shoes

I agree.
Interesting quote from Dame Emily this morning (BBC News) which seems to typify this current government............." I will be a voice for the membership, unions, PLP, and our constituents - not just nod along." No mention whatsoever what she would do for the country. Hopefully it will be a non London-based MP but NOT Jess Phillips!!! Although I doubt very much she would stand I do rather like Kim Leadbeater. She speaks with passion and means what she says unlike some who say one thing and do nothing. We've got/had too many like that and I don't mean just Labour.

Oh dear - Mr Trump is "not thrilled" by the Israeli airstrikes on Doha but he will, in all probability, not do anything about it. So much for being the "greatest peacemaker of all time" - looks as if his Nobel Peace Prize is rapidly disappearing!

I’m sure we all have differing opinions on this, mine is that Trump was fully aware of what Isreal had planned and if truth be known was in full agreement with it…. despite what he is saying to Qatar.

I'm not sure that I would agree with all of that. Yes he possibly knew what was going to happen, but not necessarily when, but I doubt that he was in agreement with it. Don't forget that the US has a major base just outside Doha (the UK also have an involvement there) and I doubt that Trump would want to have the US thrown out of there.

Nice to see Charlie making an effort to see his son Harry again…I bet the opening conversation went something like…. Yes, I know the things you said about Me, Cam and the rest of us freeloaders were true but we can draw a line under this if you promise not to write another best-selling book. He probably then went on to say how much he admired his son’s philanthropy work in giving another £million to good causes….

I just love everything about Harry and Meghan…Don’t you? :)
