From what has been published thus far I think he should stay. Good Diplomats are hard to come by and this country can’t afford to lose someone of his experience imo

I cannot say that I have ever been a particular fan of Mandelson but I don't believe that anyone in public life should be held accountable for something that they did several years ago which at the time was not an issue.

I think that a lot of the problem here is that Mandelson is not well liked by the media so they will use any excuse to have a go at him.

Hi Screwy, most of my views are researched - with amply amounts of self-opinion...make of that as you wish. I don’t doubt that the late Charlie Chirk was a good orator when it comes to his entrenched views but having watched several of his sermons I’m not convinced that he actually debates anything with the authority of knowledge. His mantra is to polarise his susceptible audiences with what appears to be sound reasoning but when scrutinised often falls short of the truth. Just my opinion of course.

All the fuss over the appointment of Lord Mandelson and his sacking as US Ambassador by Sir Kier and he throws a big party for another friend of Jeffrey Epstein who is on on a visit from the US.

Is it not about time that the method of calculating inflation was revised to be more representative of what the "average" person spends?

It makes little to no sense to include air fares in the inflation data - hands up those who use airlines every week.

Inflation is running at 3.8% overall (which is almost twice the BoE target), food at 5.1%, housing at 6%, education at 7.5% etc. To me that would make the overall inflation for "the working man" (the term Rachel from accounts like to use) somewhere in the region of 5%.

Perhaps we should all start flying more to bring our personal inflation rate down!

I would imagine that the cost of living index is aimed at providing a balanced view of an average family/person. So airfares will be a very minor part of the index, but necessary to provide a reasonably accurate average family expenditure, along with such things as vapes, alcohol, cocktails as well as gambling, so Keefie doesn't feel left out.

So the sage of trying to export migrants out of the country stalls again as the guy had not had enough time to prepare his case to stay. Put him on a plane, then he can prepare his case in France as to why he should be allowed back.

That's what comes of thinking that you know how to do the job better than those who are actually doing the job, and then convincing the electorate of that.
