Re: Current Affairs 2025
Did anyone see today's PMQs, it did become a farce when the government would not answer a direct question on the accidentally release of a Migrant.
The question put to the deputy Prime Minister five times was, has a Migrant prisoner been accidentally been released from prison since Kebatu was released from prison last month.
How hard is that to answer, yes or no. The DPM just waffled on, blaming the opposition of their failings when in power.
A lesson on how to answer a yes or no question without actually answering it.
Why can't a question be answered instead in my way of thinking the whole thing was like a comedy act, only infact, it was a serious question that needed an answer.

Wow, at the end of PMQs the opposition ask the speaker how could they get an answer to the question on the Migrant release. A police force are actively hunting another prisoner who has been accidentally? released from prison.
The speaker replies saying it is now on record.

Mrs S and myself both roared with laughter lunchtime when the BBC news reporter was talking about this prisoner released, and then said ‘you may have noticed that the prime minister wasn’t taking PMQ’s today’
Talk about the bleeding obvious unless Starmer had blacked up and shaved his head for another pantomime later on

Re: Current Affairs 2025
Whilst it's fun to take the p*** out of Labours handling of this issue, it has probably been happening fot years. It's just symptomatic of there not being enough tax revenue to fund all the demands on the exchequer, because the welfare bill is far too high, and we have too many low paid workers who need Universal credit to survive, as well as too many unemployed claiming benefits. Our population is probably 15-20 million too high for our economy to provide the public services.we need.

Re: Current Affairs 2025
I wouldn't disagree with that but it is not helped by Labour's policy of saying that taxation is too high even though it appears that they will be raising taxes in a couple weeks - Conservatives were no better in this respecttowny44 wrote: 05 Nov 2025, 22:43Whilst it's fun to take the p*** out of Labours handling of this issue, it has probably been happening fot years. That’s a very good assessment of the situation we now find ourselves in, and whilst I my well be alone on this, I think the Labour party are at least trying to do something about it. Theres no point Conservatives shouting from the sidelines, they had thirteen years to see this coming and did very little to stop it from happening.towny44 wrote: 05 Nov 2025, 22:43Whilst it's fun to take the p*** out of Labours handling of this issue, it has probably been happening fot years. Re: Current Affairs 2025
What exactly have Labour done so far that is going to lead to our economy providing enough revenue for the exchequer to fund all our public services?
They have certainly made a load of statements about what they intend to do, but despite their huge majority, they have still to follow through on anything. Like their climb down on benefits reform, and Rachel from accounts has had absolutely no beneficial impact on the economy, and her likely tax increases will have yet further downward pressure on the economy.
But you're very welcome to try and find something that is going to lead us to their promised land.

Surely these are only promises, nothing concrete about any of them, and no signs yet of any improvement in rhe economy, NHS waiting lists, teacher and Police recruitment etc etc. But you can live in Sir Hindsight's never never dreamland if you want to, I prefer to judge him on validated results.Onelife wrote: 06 Nov 2025, 15:43NHS

Many of them are good examples of spending money we don't have rather than cutting out waste and overspends. From past experience typical Labour behaviour to buy off support.
