Twelve more prisoners given the key to the door in the last three weeks. All have now returned 'home' except two.
So much for Lammy's upping checks on who can be released.

Re: Current Affairs 2025
That was how I remember seeing it on the day via TV. The gates were opened to alleviate the crush and danger to those at the front. Unfortunately, the fans piled in through the opened gates and up to the terraces, which in those days had limited crush barriers, and again unfortunately, death and injury followed.towny44 wrote: 02 Dec 2025, 13:10I know my view will be unpopular, but how can the latest Hillsborough report say that the fans had absolutely nothing to do with it, when their rowdy pushing and shoving outside the ground was the main reason the gates were opened, allowing the overcrowding to happen.
There was an immediate danger of death outside the ground and when the gates were opened, transferred that danger to the terraces.
Decisions at that moment had to be made. What would the outcome be if that Decision had not been made ?

Re: Current Affairs 2025
I think the real culprit of this disaster was the stadium itself, once the gates were open the volume of fans had nowhere to go but forward and downward crushing everyone in front of them. I can understand that the relatives of the victims want answers but in reality, whoever made the call to open the gates wouldn’t have had the mental capacity to foresee (with everything else going on) how this tragic event would unfold….we of course are a lot wiser after the event about what should have happened but sh*t happens when on the spot judgments have to be made.
Just my opinion.
Just my opinion.

I know as much as I need to know about these super rich freeloaders, but if this series helps open the eyes of some misguided Monarchists… then bring it on.
I doubt that the BBC will give Dimbleby a free hand to dig too deeply into this flagrant abuse of tax payers’ money, but then he won’t have to dig too deeply to see the absurdity of this unrepresentative institution.

Re: Current Affairs 2025
Like you I am mystified how the blame cannot be laid at the fans door that day.Who was it who was doing the pushing that day which led to so many being crushed and losing their lives? Similarly I remember there was concern outside the ground for some of those trying to get in either fairly or illegally. I don't understand how it could be anybody else to blame other than those who were pushing in that corridor.towny44 wrote: 02 Dec 2025, 13:10I know my view will be unpopular, but how can the latest Hillsborough report say that the fans had absolutely nothing to do with it, when their rowdy pushing and shoving outside the ground was the main reason the gates were opened, allowing the overcrowding to happen.

If any of you were watching Question Time last night you could have like me have mistakenly thought that the audience had all arrived by boat. I’ve never witnessed such a bias audience. The program concentrated on illegally immigration with the audience coming from Dover…. listening to the majority of the audience one could easily have been persuaded that illegal immigration was a good thing for this country.

Ironically polling shows the percentage of the population who support the Monarchy is around twice that who support the current elected government. So which institution is unrepresentative?Onelife wrote: 02 Dec 2025, 18:49I know as much as I need to know about these super rich freeloaders, but if this series helps open the eyes of some misguided Monarchists… then bring it on.

The one that has to be democratically elected every five years, the other vote themselves in.

You're nothing if not consistent Onelife, persistently consistent, unfortunately you don't seem too successful in converting any people to your point of view. I wonder why that is?
Incidentally the Monarchy dont actually have a vote.

Total waste of time and money in my view. What is anyone going to learn working 25 hours a week for six months other than how to sweep up?

Scum bags. Give them a good kicking then lock them in the tower.
Hope they didn’t use my favourite, Bramley apples in the crumble.

Re: Current Affairs 2025
I may be but one on this forum but my opinions are that of the majority of young people who can’t see the point in having an unelected, undemocratic, hereditary, throwback heading the country….not to mention the extortionately expensive cost keeping the royals warm in their centrally heated horse draw carriages, not to mention the freeloaders who have been caught out using the Royal name to feather their own nests… so it’s understandable why so many of us have such distain for this archaic secretive, unrepresentative institution. And let us not forget those Royals who use young girls as their Royal prerogative.towny44 wrote: 06 Dec 2025, 23:08You're nothing if not consistent Onelife, persistently consistent, unfortunately you don't seem too successful in converting any people to your point of view. I was at home watching the gee gees hoping that I could make enough money to increase my membership donation to Republic UK (but there’s always next week)
And no, I don’t condone such behaviour.

It’s got to be better for them than sitting at home playing on their i-phones for 25 hours a week.david63 wrote: 07 Dec 2025, 11:30The government's latest scheme https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqlke33rzplo

Re: Current Affairs 2025
Am I missing something. New photos show Trump, Andrew and Bill Clinton also Bill Gates from the Epstein files. All have said that they have done nothing wrong, something Andrew has been saying for ages, only Andrew has been the centre of interest to the press. A cropped photo shows Andrew talking to Bill Gates, nothing wrong with that, but the original also had the King there as well.
So far there is no 'Juicy bits' that have been proven, only speculation, all getting rather boring
