Winter Olympics
Who else is watching?
I have to say that curling has me hooked.
The scenery up on the slopes is spectacular.

Re: Winter Olympics
Hi David, I’ve been watching in passing so to speak ... .I clearly don’t understand the rules of jump Snowboarding because Mia Brooke's final jump didn't score due apparently slight over rotation. The jump itself was spectacular and would have got her first place had it been allowed…I personally didn’t see much wrong with it so have put in a complaint.
Our two Curling mixed pairs must be devastated playing such a poor semi- final especially having swept all before them in the qualifying heats…hope they get the Bronze medal.

Dip in and out. Quite like watching the skiing and the luge, which you need nerves of steel to do that.

Re: Winter Olympics
Been glued to the curling. Can’t believe how we had such a good run into qualification only to fall apart when it really mattered. So disappointing.
Enjoyed watching the pairs skating and some of the men’s individual’s was incredible.
We seem to be coming so close to medals only to miss out when really we should have won.

Re: Winter Olympics
Certainly watched the curling & felt sorry for Bruce & Jen. (I mean it’s just like deck quoits over a 40m range - what’s not to like
) They still have other events to go in so let’s hope they can get a medal.
Perhaps I’m reading the wrong newspapers & watching the wrong channels but I always get the feeling that the media only gets excited about sport when things go wrong or there is ‘an issue.’
I watched Spurs v Ncle last night on tv & read a report in a paper this morning and the match report was almost totally about Spurs manager & the fans - the previous article in the paper had been about Thomas Frank.
I do wish that reporting was based more on the events and on up and coming athletes rather than ploughing the same old furrows.

Watched the mens cross country a little earlier. What a killer on the body that is. Think I’ll stick to arm chair olympics.

Just been watching Moguls (whatever that is). You would think that they would have the snow smooth - it's like skiing on cobblestones!

They'll all need new knees by the time they retire from that sport. It looks a killer.

Re: Winter Olympics
BREAKING: SCOTLAND WINS WINTER OLYMPIC GOLD WITHOUT A SLED
Absolute scenes have erupted at the Winter Olympics in Italy tonight after a rogue team of wild haggis, calling themselves “The Cairngorm Cannonballs”, defied physics, biology, and the International Olympic Committee to take Gold in the 4-Man Bobsleigh.
Crucially, they did not use a bobsleigh.
They were the bobsleigh.
While the German and Swiss teams arrived with £50k carbon-fibre prototypes and aerodynamic visors calibrated to the millimetre, the four haggis simply huddled together at the starting line, interlocked their fur, and downed a quick dram of single malt for what they described as “internal antifreeze.”
Spectators were confused until the lead haggis screamed the now-legendary battle cry:
“FEEL THE RHYTHM!
FEEL THE RHYME!
GET ON UP…
IT’S HAGGIS TIME!”
They launched.
Experts have since confirmed the Scots possessed a supreme biological advantage: The Uneven Legs.
Because wild haggis legs are shorter on one side (evolved for running round mountains), they are scientifically perfect for a banked bobsleigh track. While other teams battled G-force on the curves, The Cairngorm Cannonballs simply stayed upright and let gravity handle the paperwork.
They didn’t steer. They just locked onto the target at the bottom of the track: A Scottish fan waving a Tunnock’s Teacake like a landing beacon.
The Cannonballs crossed the line a full three seconds ahead of the favourites, shattering the world record.
Disney has already secured the film rights.
Production begins next month on the biopic, officially titled:
CAULD RUNNINGS

Re: Winter Olympics
So disappointed to see Leila Fear stumble during the ice dance finals although the French couple who took the gold were superb.
Today we turn our attention to the Skeleton where Matt Weston is out in front and the men’s curling team are doing well so far.

Re: Winter Olympics
With Matt Watson having a three tenths of a second lead going into tonight's runs we should have our first gold medal
…less of course he has a complete meltdown.
Just watching the men’s curling….after a disastrous opening we are crawling ourselves back into the game.

Re: Winter Olympics
Good day for our Curling teams after yesterday - although I thing the girlies may struggle to get into the top four with their lack of Olympic experience.

Seems like almost every time i put the TV on there’s bl**dy curling on. As you’ve probably gathered it's not my thing. Much prefer the mens super G down hill skiing. A proper winter sport

Re: Winter Olympics
I rather like the curling. Clearly highly skilled but rather akin to chess/skittles on ice with all the different strategies they employ.
I’m enjoying the Olympics especially since you can follow them on BBC player. If colour telly hasn’t reached your parts and you’re still watching in black and white I know what you mean

Matt and Tabby, absolutely brilliant in the mixed skeleton…felt a bit sorry for Tabby at the way they steeped praise on Matt… but in fairness, Matt probably said to Tabby “just get the start right and I’ll do the rest”

Re: Winter Olympics
Good win for our women's curlers this morning but still a lot to do to get to the top four.
Men had a good game last night but were unlucky with the decider not going last.

I felt sorry for the other lass who posted a better time than Tabby but missed out on bronze. She must have looked and thought what might have been. Such small margins.Onelife wrote: 16 Feb 2026, 10:11Matt and Tabby, absolutely brilliant in the mixed skeleton…felt a bit sorry for Tabby at the way they steeped praise on Matt… but in fairness, Matt probably said to Tabby “just get the start right and I’ll do the rest”
Watched the skating last night and I think one or two had been on the shnapps there were so many falls, mis-steps and at one point the lady missed her hand hold and ended up on her partner's shoulder. And these were the best. Mind you how they remember those routines I will never know much like the professionals in Strictly they are so good.
