P&O Community site is back!!!!
Just went to look at the webcam on the P&O site and saw that the community link at top was gone then I did a search on there for the Community site and hey presto I found it has returned but you would not know it if you look at the site on first opening it. Link below will take you to it.

I believe most people have had a peek over the last few days , back door or not it is a rubbish setup.
P&O have a long long way to go to provide a stable forum.

I haven't tried it but I suspect that you would also find it if you did a Google search as the results will still be lying around.
Looking at it from another perspective I would question whether anyone should use it when, according to P&O, it causes problems with the main website. Should the main website go down and P&O lose business through the use of the forum then there may be possible legal implications - and remember that P&O know exactly who has been using it.
And no it is not sour grapes as I would be only too pleased if the P&O forum was reinstated.

What I meant was that if you thought that the P & O forum was back then you would 'pull the plug' on this one....as you have always said....From your reply above, I think, reading between the lines, you ain't going to switch this board off any time soon...and we can all be grateful for that.
Well I am anyway.

Paul - I have said all along that this is only a temporary "home" until the P&O forum rises from the ashes. When (if?) it does then a decision will have to be made which will ultimately depend on how much it is used.

David, please don't pull the plug on your replacement to the P&O site. You've done such fantastic job with it. If it's a question of resourcing, I'd happily put my hand in my pocket.

Could of course be a question of time rather than money, additionally D63 and the Mods do lose a little of their freedom regarding their ability to post as compared to the ' normal ' ( ishDancing Queen wrote:So would I Alan

Re: P&O Community site is back!!!!
Yesterday I was busy starting to look at various options for destinations and itineraries, and I ended up on the P&O site - for one reason and another I decided I wanted to find out my Peninsular Club member number.
Anyway, during the process I clicked on the old forum icon (or whatever it was) and I got the polite message saying that the forum was no longer working etc etc.
Some time later I was on this wonderful forum here and saw this thread. So, being an inquisitive person I clicked on the link - and all I got was a message in a grey box saying that there was an it problem of one sort or another.
I think that this forum is lovely, I have no faith in P & O getting their forum act together, and I would also gladly put my hand in my pocket if needs be, just like Jo and Alan above.
If the plug was ever pulled on this forum, then I do doubt that I would bother returning to the P&O site - remember, not all of us here present can go back to the old P & O forum - and it would be a sad day indeed.
Oh well, onwards and upwards!
Meanwhile, a huge and sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes this forum possible.

Re: P&O Community site is back!!!!
It's up to David how he runs his site, and if he decided he wanted to earn revenue from it, I would have no problem with that. Most forums have adverts in one form or another, so if he decided he wanted to do that then fair enough.
But regarding members funding the administrator of a forum..... I'm not sure that would be a good idea. For one thing, it'd turn ugly in a hurry, when people start disagreeing on how their money is being spent.
I totally appreciate all David's work, particularly when he had to spend his holiday time sorting out problems.
The P&O forum is, in my opinion, one of those things to leave in the past where it belongs.
Lets use this site to the max, to encourage David in his endeavours and make him feel he's doing something worthwhile (which he is)

Don't worry folks - I will not be coming round with the collection plate.
I have considered the possibility of putting adverts on but as they generate such a small amount of income I feel that they would change the dynamic of the site - and not for the better.
However as MoB says, long term it is the time commitment that may become the issue - we will have to see just what happens.

I did wonder at the commitment of David and the moderators here. It must be very time consuming. I don't think it's something I'd want to do ( I'd be hopeless anyhow). I also appreciate you all doing this. I enjoy the forum (well most of the time)

Just had a quick look. Not fully operational yet but a few old members are posting, notably DTM who has not used this site for several months. He probably doesn't like the moderators

DTM is largely takling to himself but he has more patience than me if he can bear fiddling about with that forum at the moment
