Hi Onelife, I also saw Joyeux Machin was running & was tempted to put a bet on him & now wish I had. Well done, despite doubts you still kept the faith and it paid off for you.

You may remember I mentioned an inexperienced horse called Le Frimeur running on Friday. Well I decided to put a win bet on him a couple of days before & had no idea of what his odds would be and was hoping for maybe about 4/1 but as it happens he won @ 2/1.

I note that Epictetus hasn't yet been withdrawn from the Lincoln on Saturday but I'd be very surprised if he actually gets a chance to run.

Hi Pompey, I had forgotten that you had advised "Le Frimeur" as being a good bet, and so it proved.

I have just taken a look at the race and I don’t think the jockey (Lorcan Williams) who rode the second horse home (Came from Nowhere) will get the ride again. It must rate as one of the worst rides ever.

Yes’ you’re right about Epictetus not making the cut…I don’t think ā€œSeanā€ will get in either - not sure I’d be backing it anyway?

Yes you read that correctly Ray....and you may find this hard to believe but Keefy should have won with the same horse when he ran at Doncaster in January and Joyeau decided to be a complete " Numpty " and fell just when he looked like he was going to win

Ahh well ...that's racing for you

Hi Onelife, just a little update about Saturday at Doncaster.....looks like Sean has been withdrawn from the Lincoln and Epictetus is still there.
Epictetus is also entered in the earlier race 14:45 Spring Mile handicap & some of the ones entered in the Lincoln are also entered for this as well.
Just about to send this and realised you probably already know via your tracker...silly me

Hi Pompey, Thanks, I’m well up to speed as to where each horse is declared…I rather suspect Epictetus will be running Sunday?

As soon as betfred goes nrnb on the Lincoln I’m going to have a bet on J Channon's horse ā€œUrban Lionā€ which is currently 25/1. I’ll be hoping he gets a middle to high draw which should increase his chances. That being said, as we both know picking the winner of this cavalry charge is no easy task.

Let me know when you've spotted the winner....this should be your kind of race as the stats give a clear picture as to where one should be looking...with this in mind I can't think why I've gone for Urban Lion:?

Hi Pompey, I’ve decided to take a chance and have had an initial bet of Ā£3 win ā€œUrban Lionā€ 25/1…I think he will be much shorter come the day.

Will it be building on success or normal service is resumed? We wait and see šŸ˜©šŸ‘šŸ˜

In a race such as the Lincoln there’s a fair chance it will be normal services resumed, but here’s hoping.

It’s officially the start of the flat season on Saturday, with in most cases only last season's form to go by so It normally pays to wait a few weeks to see if horses have trained on before having to risk more of your wife's jewellery. Thinking along those lines I’m dreading you ever meeting my wife as you sound like the kind of chap who would say something like….ā€œKeith tells me you have had some lovely jewellery" :)

Get on while you can....William Hill, Ladbrokes & Coral are all 16/1
Only Bet Fred, Paddy Power & Boyle Sports still at 25/1

Urban Lion seems to me to have a fair chance....Days since last race, OR rating & age all in his favour
Slight concern about his weight because at 9-6 he falls just outside the 8st 12lbs - 9st 4lbs by 9/11 winners but in 2023 Migration won at 9st 9lbs so there is every chance the weight could be ok.

I can't really find anything that really jumps out at me...when I do think ..."maybe that's the one" I then find a reason to change my mind
I think I'll wait until Friday and make a last minute decision.
I've been looking for a long shot running in the Aintree Topham Chase in April and am thinking of New Order.
This long shot is also running in the JCB Handicap Chase at Warwick on Thursday.....Hmmm

I’ve just checked out New Order and he wouldn’t be without a chance come Thursday, especially if you can forgive his last run which was probably pushing his stamina to the limits…He strikes me as a horse that will enjoy better under foot conditions so I’ll have another look Thursday and might even have a couple of quid on the donkey.

P.s. if he runs Thursday he will most likely be a doubtful runner in the Topham.

Constitution Hill runs at Kempton tomorrow & to be honest, now he runs on the flat in less than top class races, I'm not that interested
Sad to say Sir Gino has been PTS due to his severe infections

Oh! Dear, I didnt know about Sir Gino…devastating news for the owners, stable girls/boys, trainer and racing as a whole.

Hopefully we’ll see Constitution Hill win in style…next stop Group class.

Are we moving to the flat season thread? If so, can we do so on Friday ready for Onelife's Saturday bankers.

I see nothing wrong with going back to the Sport of Kings topic if most of your bankers are on the flat which I presume will be Doncaster or the Curragh ( Albert Einstein 2000 guineas favourite + Gstaard 5th fav are both in the 3:40 )
Mind you there are still some NH races about and Ascot on Sunday has a couple of good races

Oh! Dear Pompey, I had forgotten we had named it ā€œThe sport of KINGSā€ let’s stick with what we’ve got…the mere mention of "Kings" is putting me right off the Bacon sarnie I’m devouring at this moment.

Didn't realize Guy had his horse running today
Wow....and he also won in 2024  but had almost a year off so missed the chance of running in 2025

I notice that Bet Fred, Corals & Ladbroke still only give SP for New Order tomorrow...I tried to get an anti-post with price bet last week but failed, they said SP only and now some of the opposition has dropped out looks like he is down to 3/1 :(

Hi Pompey, Jack Doyen sustained an injury after a race at Hereford, however, he more than likley picked up the injury after his previous race where he fell…not a world beater by any stretch of the imagination but in his class can as we have seen today hold his own.

With regard to New Order tomorrow generally speaking only the top notch races are opened up for anti-post betting. I am going to have Ā£3 win on your donkey if I can get the 3/1 but betfred havn’t offered any prices yet….I think it will be shorter and like you think it has a fair chance.

Good luck if you get on.

Probably the best your going to get.....unlike me
When I said "tried to get an anti-post with price bet last week but failed" what I didn't mention is that I did take a bet on him which will be at SP...
I was really hoping for longer odds as I mentioned earlier but it is what it is ....anyway I'll let you settle down to watch Constitution Hill slam the poor opposition at Kempton
