Re: National Hunt jumps 2025/2026
Fever Dream has a few more supporters....but maybe New Order still has a chance...just read this
" Course winner NEW ORDER looks the safest option here as he's generally been in fine form this term despite failing to register a victory. His latest effort is worth marking up as he went a suicidal pace and the form has been boosted. The course winner placed off higher marks than this in stronger races on his previous couple of outings and should prove tough to catch at this sharp track. His biggest dangers may be a couple who shaped well on their reappearance runs. "

Win or lose, I take the attitude that putting up a horse that doesn't live up to expectations is just hard cheese…. but if it goes on to win “and the price has gone out” it’s a feather in your cap for spotting something the other punters didn’t.
I do it all the time.
Disappointed to see what draw “Urban Lion” has got (drawn 2) but I note that it has been backed in from the 25/1 into 12/1 in places (! took the 25/1)

Well New Order just faded towards the end....not that confident for the Topham if he runs in it.
Still only a quid lost
Urban Lion will need to show a bit of early speed from draw 2 to secure a decent position on the rail, so google says.

Hi Pompey, just had a thought about your Horse racing thread title “National Hunt Jumps 2025/2026” We could ask David to edit the title to… “National Hunt Jumps / Flat 2026/2027” this way we keep all the previous chats in one thread. Let me know what you think and if you are ok with this suggestion we can ask David if he would be ok editing for us?

Hi Onelife, Before I give an answer to that suggestion, I'd like to ask you a question....
For several years you've had a stand alone topic called Grand National 2021, 2022,2023 etc
Do you still want to keep doing this for the Grand National this year or were you intending to include the Grand National in our horse racing thread ?

I'll wait for you to post the topic when you are readyOnelife wrote: 26 Mar 2026, 21:43Hi Pompey, The Grand National thread is a stand alone thread, and will I hope, continue for a few more years to come. thanks for asking.![]()
Regarding your suggestion about including flat & NH Jumps together, I think “National Hunt Jumps / Flat 2026/2027 " is Ok but make sure it will have the entire title because it might be shortened by the computer if a couple of letters too long
Or, maybe just a new thread " Horse Racing 2026/2027 " which includes NH & flat races will do.
I'm not so sure that we need to bother David to edit the title....just create the new thread. People who are interested will still easily find the old conversations we've had.
However thank you for giving me a chance to express my thoughts

Hi Pompey, I don’t think anyone other than David could edit the thread title?
I take onboard what you are saying and think " Horse Racing 2026/2027 " will suffice…would you like to do the honours?
David gives extra “post points” for new threads..who knows he might even make you up to First officer

I wouldn’t trust David as far as I could throw him…and having met David that wouldn’t be very far. We best leave it there because he has been known to demote members back to cabin boy status for any hint of insubordination…he did it to me once but felt awful having done it…the hate mail he received didn’t help either.Portsmouth wrote: 27 Mar 2026, 10:26Well I've started a few new topics on here ( F1, Are you Prepared etc ) and David has given me Diddly Squat in extra post pointsOnelife wrote: 27 Mar 2026, 00:03

So for those who have looked at the last few posts you'll realize that this is the end of the 2025 /2026 NH topic
Instead will be starting a new Horse Racing 2026/2027 where you can have the very exciting thrill of following Onelifes Bankers or
Pompys outrageous guesses trying to find an outsider who might beat the favourite
Plus a new Topic from Onelife dedicated to this years Grand national and maybe a few members will add a horse they like, even those who know little or nothing about the Sport

Well said Pompey, all welcome with or without knowledge of racing.
And thank you Pompey, the thread wouldn’t be the same without you.
