Yet another very strange Chelsea performance last evening

They really did not deserve to win last night - but again they got their act together to up even more Silver

I thought it a very interesting game, still find the owner a strange cookie

 I didn't watch Chelsea because it was Man Utd's Player of the Year Awards - well done Robin van Persie and Michael Carrick. I once passed the Chelsea Oligarch in the Munich Tunnel at Old Trafford and he really didn't look as if he knew what day it was. Odd bod. Had to laugh because he was surrounded by burly minders yet, who gave a damn about him? No-one ! As for John my-ego-is-massive Terry - who didn't play last night - having his full kit on - including shinpads (??) under his outerwear - so he could rush up and revel in the limelight - words fail me !!!!!

 Now then Paul, who mentioned Rio Ferdinand? Why bring a Man United player into it? Do you know Rio on a personal level then to call him such? I was talking about John I won't-rest-till-I'm-the-manager-and-I'm-not-going-to-miss-out-on-anything Terry. Witness the European Cup Final in 1999 (I was there) Roy Keane didn't have his kit on under his suit, although he did lift the cup later on, on the pitch, in his suit. Even though banned for the Final, I'm not sure if Keane would have done what Terry did last night. Although it is in the rules to lift a trophy even though one has not played John Terry has become a parody of himself.

I didn't read that as bitter. In fact, I tend to agree that top level football has been completely ruined by obscene amounts of money floating around in the cess pool

Er sorry, no it isn't, football is played using the feet and rugby is played using the hands to pass the ball. I support Wakefield Trinity too, I like all sorts of sport. Not keen on union, never have been.

I don't understand why you want to 'attack' JT this way.....The club that he has played for for many years, had just won a European Trophy and he wanted to celebrate with his mate...what's wrong with that :?: ...I bet the Chelsea fans loved seeing him there and they are the ones that matter.

At least he didn't forget to go... :sarcasm:

I think it is quite evident that everyone detests the Premier League. I know there is an obscene amount of money involved but that's the way it is and moaning about it at every opportunity is not going to change a thing. At least televised matches can be seen by those who might not otherwise get to a ground to watch their team play. What about the money involved in tennis? F1? golf? American football ?

Similarly, I don't understand why you want to attack Man Utd, its players or the Premiership. Try reading the Twitter comments about Terry. If you can't see what people hate about him, well, where do I start? He is a horrible person and you'll find that he is pretty much universally booed wherever he goes. Oh, but you won't realise that will you, since you will have no truck with the Premiership?

So, why is it generally known as "Rugby Football" ?

I'm a Union man mostly. I do watch League, given the opportunity, but being a softie southerner, I confess I don't fully understand the intricacies. Same with Crown Green - now, I concede, that isn't football !

Ah now, Crown Green bowling: I used to work at a place which had its own crown green bowling pitch. It's devilishly hard not to let your bowl go whizzing off into the gutter whilst tryng to knock your opponents' bowls further away from the jack. Don't understand rugby union, it seems all kick and rush, and kick and rush ...... anyway whoever called it rugby football was clearly bonkers, surely it should be called rugby handball ????

There can be too much kicking in Union at times so perhaps a change of name to incorporate "handball" might be for the best !!

Rugby either union or league is a mans game, not all this falling over like a wet rag when the opposition blows on you, or trying to deliberately get people sent off, diving, spitting at people etc
football is a thugs game watched by thugs ,supporting thugs who would be in jail otherwise and the premiership glorifies the worst excesses of the game

Mr Qbman, I have revised my opinion. Perhaps the term 'rugby union football' is more appropriate since all they seem to do in that game is kick the ball !!! and occasionally pass it and do a throw-in.

David Beckham has hung up his Golden Boots

He did have a few "pimples" but overall an exceptional career in both football and other add ons

I really do admire the young man from humble background to having the world as his oyster

Hope he enjoys his fortnightly unemployed giro and spends it wisely :moresarcasm:

There's an old adage saying that "Football is a gentlemen's game played by hooligans, and Rugby is a hooligans' game played by gentlemen" Substitute 'watched' for 'played' and you pretty well cover the supporters too.
