Sue and Garrys April 26 Med cruise
Friday 24 April 2026 - board Aurora
We had been informed that boarding would be delayed by an hour due to a deep clean.
We arrived at the port and it was very quiet and joined the 1 car queue for CPS parking which commenced early. After dropping off the baggage which opened at the normal time of 11 am we joined the queue to wait for check in. This also opened earlier than expected and we were soon checked in and sat down waiting for clearance to join the ship.
Lunch on board was in the Alexandra restaurant and the usual embarkation menu. The wine flowed well but after lunch we decided to pay a visit to the future cruise desk as 2028 itineraries were available to pre register. This took a while and by the time we had finished the cabin announcement was made and we made a start on the unpacking. All of our luggage was already outside our cabin. We were soon unpacked and everything in its place.
Saturday - and Sunday Sea days started very blustery and overcast as we cruised down the coast of France. The bay of Biscay was relatively calm. Some white horses but nothing like what the Bay of Biscay can be like.
Sunday afternoon the sun finally broke through and the aft deck slowly filled up as word got round that the sun had got its hat on.
It was the first formal night of the cruise And a celebration menu. The cocktail party had been cancelled because of the virus outbreak. This was virtually under control and we noticed at lunchtime that the salt and pepper pots were once again on the tables. The first sign that everything is under control and normality will soon be restored.
In place of the party we were given vouchers for a glass of champagne.
Monday the last of the run of sea days. The sun was out but the wind was cool. Aurora was still in the Atlantic but due to do a left turn into the med around lunchtime. I had my sunbed ready on the aft deck waiting for the left turn into the med.
The weather didn’t improve and after sailing past Gibraltar the rain started, I gave up and moved inside.
The GlassHouse reopened and we ate in there. It was menu 1 which means the delicious Sicilian fish stew. Excellent. We should have skipped desert as the cheeseboard selection wasn’t great we opted for the chocolate deserts. Far too sweet for me and I really didn’t need them. Garry enjoyed them as he has a sweet tooth.
Too late I remembered that last time we were on board we decamped to the buffet for the cheese selection which is much better selection than the glass house and free of charge.
Tuesday 28 th April - We have just docked in our first port of call Cartagena. It is early and the sun hasn’t got its hat on yet but when I poked my head out onto the aft deck it was much warmer than yesterday.

Thank you Sue, really looking forward to hearing about your cruise. I hope the sun keeps its hat firmly on for the rest of the cruise. You're back on my favourite ship and I hope you and Garry have a wonderful time.

Re: Sue and Garrys April 26 Med cruise
Morning all, here is the latest from Sue and Garry.
Wednesday 29 April sea day
Yes finally the sun was promising. As we are sailing due East it took a while for it to get to the back of deck A but I was there waiting for it to perform and just after 9 a.m. it arrived. This is is also when I realised I had left all my many pairs of sunglasses at home. That’s another shopping expedition tomorrow in Cagliari.
Aurora Uncovered. At 11 am
It took a lot to get me off my sunbed but I had promised a friend that I would go to see him at the Aurora uncovered event in the crystal pool area. I have seen it so many times but there is always something different going on and I feel we should support these events as so much work goes into them from the officers and crew. Alas I just couldn’t tear myself away from the sun so Garry went to show our support on his own whilst I worshipped the globe in the sky.
Thursday 30 April 2026 - Cagliari - Sardinia
We have been here so many times and climbed the big hill years ago and no longer feel the need to repeat it.
At the port area there are many trips on offer. Poetta beach is about 5 miles from the port and a bus runs regularly taking passengers there. Another trip goes around the city and up to the highest point for fantastic views.
We wandered looking at the touristy shops, I bought some cheapo sunglasses which hopefully will last this cruise they are supposedly IV protected. We walked towards the gelatario but got waylaid by a bar and a beer, some nibbles came with it which also attracted the very large birds. Yuk! I hate birds and the mass of creatures that live in their feathers.
The gelatario was well worth the wait. Three types, liquorice my fav, tiramisu and a fruity one. I managed to slop it down my white skirt so that’s another wash for my ‘butler’ aka Garry to do.
We headed back slowly towards the ship both swearing that never again will we get off the ship in this port except if we have booked a trip, but I remember saying the same thing last year. Cagliari has a lot going for it and fantastic views from the top of the hill which makes the long torturous climb worth while for passengers with no mobility issues. It has little to offer at ground level and the road works which have been going on for years are still no nearer finishing.
I spent the afternoon on the aft deck by the pool. It was hot hot hot. No breeze down there at all.
Friday 1 st May - Sea Day
The day looked promising but it took a while for the sun to reach the aft deck. The clocks had moved forward again and we are now 3 hours time difference to UK.
The weather was very breezy but the sun once it got up burnt off the cloud and it was hot on the aft deck.
It was our Ligurian lunch at noon so I reluctantly left my sunbed to get ready.
The lunch was excellent and a new menu for us. The wine never stopped arriving and I to keep my hand over the glass whenever I saw the waiter approaching. Gone are the days where after the lunch I went back to bed for the day. I was being extra careful as it was formal night and another lovely meal to look forward to.
I found my sunbed still unused where I left it and settled down for the afternoon chatting. I hadn’t realised just how hot the sun was and was a little red skinned when I returned to our cabin.
The sea had started getting rougher and I needed a Stugeron and a lie down before dinner, as usual it worked its magic and I was fine after 30 minutes shut eye.
Formal night and Sea Bass - my favourite was on the menu. We made our way through all the courses despite having had a l meal at lunchtime. No wonder my clothes are feeling tighter.

Re: Sue and Garrys April 26 Med cruise
Morning all.
I am in Warnemunde today on Saga Adventure. We have had the most lovely weather.
Here is the latest cruise report from Sue and Garry.
Monday 2 May - Katakolon - nothing much to report about this port of call. The wind was very cold and as we called here last year we decided it wasn’t worth the long walk off with the wind gusting. It is the port of call to visit Olympia where many of our fellow passengers were heading off to. Other than that there are some lovely beach bars and restaurants which had the weather been better we would have walked through to them. Instead we had a lazy day on the ship and Garry got the washing up to date. I had a lovely surprise from a lady I had met on the aft deck and we got chatting about Olives. She had been on a trip that had included Olives and she brought me a bowl of lovely Greek black olives to our cabin. So very kind of her. Another outstanding meal at dinner in the Alexander restaurant.
