You could spend five minutes looking up 'analogy' in the dictionary.

Young man
Not too sure about U and your serenity to this grand forum of ours
Do you have a problem with rural country bumpkins, aged old ****, needs to have a pee pot handy . . . and a fondness to the noble Ferret
. . . and probably a tad wiser than your young mind
Eager for your "unlikely" profound retort

I guess you must have a narrower view of its meaning than the dictionary.sumdumbloke wrote:Kendhni wrote:I give up, if people can not read posts properly then there is little i can do

Re: Deja vu
I was sitting at the airport yesterday reading an article that suggested that electronic reading is potentially detrimental to children's reading abilities in terms of comprehension, retention, and pleasure. Hmmmmm ... it also applies to adults!
Too many people post with hidden agendas which causes them to prejudge others based on their own intents ... they do not read things properly and fail to accept that others may actually not be following an agenda and simply mean what they have written.

I assume you are talking about religion which, is a slightly different thing, since it is based on blind faith rather than understanding ... and a bit below the belt. If anything, I am more understanding and tolerant of religion than I believe it deserves.Silver_Shiney wrote:Kendhni wrote:I always find it a shame when people simply ridicule that which they fear and/or can not understand ... but it is a common human trait.

Nope, the same one. See below.
analogy |əˈnaləjē|
noun ( pl. analogies )
a comparison between two things, typically on the basis of their structure and for the purpose of explanation or clarification: an analogy between the workings of nature and those of human societies | he interprets logical functions by analogy with machines.
• a correspondence or partial similarity: the syndrome is called deep dysgraphia because of its analogy to deep dyslexia.
• a thing that is comparable to something else in significant respects: works of art were seen as an analogy for works of nature.
• Logic a process of arguing from similarity in known respects to similarity in other respects.
• Linguistics a process by which new words and inflections are created on the basis of regularities in the form of existing ones.
• Biology the resemblance of function between organs that have a different evolutionary origin.

The same definition as I am using then ?
Probably not the best word in the context but still suitable.

You may be talking about religion, I am talking about Christianity, which is anything but a blind faith, unlike the religion of atheism and evolution. But that is a possible subject for another thread, NOT this one.

Right it will have to be gardening then - an update on our greenhouse erection - stage 1 of a 52 page instruction sheet took us 2 hours (we then had to resort to you tube for clarification!). Not looking forward to the weekend when we endeavour on stage 2

Re: Deja vu
Melons can be a bit touchy but you should be OK with chillis. I particularly like a variety called "Apache" - easy to grow, attractive plants with a bushy habit and producing loads of medium sized hot and tasty chillis. They will grow happily in 5 inch pots.

Re: Deja vu
You should start a "Gardening" thread QB, I'm sure many like you would have lots of useful hints and tips.
I'm afraid my only contribution would be .... make sure you are sitting comfortably with a glass in your hand while instucting OH what needs doing but hey someone has to be the "boss"
Seriously though I think it would be a great idea.
