Woolwich Attack

Firstly I think that the whole country is horrified by this attack and our thoughts, as always in these cases, is with the family and friends of the victim.

What I cannot understand is what it was all about. There was a short amount footage on the news tonight where, presumably, one of the attackers was saying that this is what happens to women in his country - well I have the answer; go back to where you came from and sort it out there.

Also can anyone explain why they were shouting that they were doing it in the name of Allah? Obviously they know nothing about the teachings of Allah.

Let's just hope that there are no "copycat" attacks on anyone, be they in the armed forces or not.

A very horrific and sad attack that I never thought we would witness on the streets of the UK.

Worthless scum dressing their actions up under the name of some inane 'cause'. I hope at least one of them lives long enough to at least explain their actions .. after that who cares what happens to them.

Shocking and disgraceful - beyond words!

Yes, I do think that the death penalty is still there for treason, but I don't think that this was treason.

These two criminals will be found guilty, there is absolutely no way out of that, but I wonder if possibly they could be sent to a prison on a military camp?

I feel so sorry for the family and friends of the victim - sad and sorry.

Sadly no Meg - that law was repealed several years ago - however I think that there are times when "an eye for an eye" seems appropriate

Having listened to one of the reports this morning I wonder how long before we hear some bleeding heart liberal do-gooder ambulance chaser crying out that the police were heavy handed and used unreasonable force.

The death penalty would make them Martyrs in the eyes of some - the suicide bombers have that outlook. I think yesterday's perpetrators hung around for the Police hoping they would be martyred. Revenge attacks aere playing right into their hands.

As someone with a strong Christian faith I find it incomprehensible how anyone can attribute such acts to their faith. I see that the Islamic Society of Britain have issued a statement along those lines

Both of these creatures were British born apparently. The odious 'radical preacher' Anjem Choudary, another British born hater of the west has popped up to say he knows one of them form the mosque and hey ho it's not their fault, Why oh why M15 don't take these scumbags out is a comlete mystery to me. That poor boy and his family, it doesn't bear thinking about.

Like you I was glad to see the ISB statement, but they need to do more to rout out the hate preachers that are radicalising so many young British moslems.

Hi Angela

The message within your link should be applauded and one can only hope it is preached in every hate filled Mosque around our country which are the breeding ground for many of these sick, radicalised individuals who go out and commit these heinous crimes.

I could go on about the other hate filled places of indoctrination but this would be unfair as I’m sure there are some Islamic schools which follow the true teachings of Islam.

You do have to wonder how some sections of the human race think. Most of us are not capable of willfull violence and it is near impossible for us to understand how some people in the name of their god can blow innocent men women and children up with bombs packed with nails let alone hack a complete stranger to pieces and chop their head off.

I can't imagine how this would effect that poor mans family. The loss of a close one due to an accident can be devestating, to deal with something like this is beyond me and i'd guess all of us.

I have heard on the News the young soldier was 25 years old. So much life should have been ahead of him. His family will be suffering, but the pain of seeing this horrific act on Television and the newspapers must be unbearable.
This was cold blooded murder caused by 2 men , so filled with hatred which I am sure is in no religious readings.
The usual terrorists are cowards, where ever they place their bombs it is an attack on people of all colour , race and religion. Killing their own means nothing to them.
Yesterday was another very sad day for this country.

To see the photo of the victim just bring it all home. How very very sad.

So, if the death penalty is not available, then I hope that when the two murderers are found guilty, not only do they get sent to a military prison with no hope of freedom ever, I hope it has a piggery, and I also hope that any and all assets they have are impounded and sold to provide support for the children left without a father - and that's for starters.

How dare they! Who do they think they are, these murderers?

I can't imagine how the family and friends of this poor soldier feel. At the moment all I can feel is hatred for these people and what I would like to do to these perpetrators of this hideous thing I would not like to put in writing. I just hope that their punishment is for them to be imprisoned for life in a Military camp.

A better suggestion than incarcerating them (which would cost the taxpayer money one way or the other - and they are not worth that) would be to take them to their beloved Afghanistan where I sure that our troops over there would take great delight in "looking after them".

I feel sorry for the surgeons, doctors and nurses who have no choice but to help theses scumbags recover from their injuries....

I don’t want to see anymore talk about how we are going to deal with these despicable creatures I want to see action...anyone who is heard preaching this hate filled garbage should be taken off our streets and disposed of....no questions asked... no reasons given.

Just be aware that these donations are going to Help for Heroes (a very worthwhile charity) "in memory of the British Soldier killed in Woolwich on 22nd May 2013" and not to family of the soldier

These people do not deserve the death penalty. That would give them the martyrdom the want, and give other like minded ^+^^%**@s (choose your own description) martyrs to avenge. No, what is needed is the old sentence of penal servitude with hard labour.

I wasn't going to comment on this. In fact I have been trying not to think about it. I feel so helpless and upset. I just made the mistake of looking at the news online and saw the lovely boy these vile people butchered in broad daylight.I cannot imagine how his young wife and his parents must feel. RIP to a brave young man.
