'Fessing up

Unread post by gfwgfw »

Dear Shipmates

I am sitting at my trusty 'puter feeling very, very guilty

Why, you may well ask

The Giant is a fibber and a cheat and incredibly deceptive

The much beloved arranged a small dinner party for her ladies club

I agreed to do the preparation and cooking

We have a newly opened Cook shop who sells an abundance of rather nice but pricey prepared culinary extravaganzas

Got on the "dog and bone" and ordered the requirements for the ladies delectation

To cut to the chase

The six ladies were overwhelmed by my kitchen skills, the much beloved was complimentary ohow clean her pride and joy kitchen was left

Knowing that you ladies are so devious, have I really pulled off my gross deception, if so it was a well spent forty quid :D

By the way - all the packaging is in the next door's wheeley bin

Lubooo all

Naughty, naughty boy!

Actually, if everyone is happy, what's the problem? But I would own up - she might get you cooking all the time - and that could be expensive!

Good grief man, have you NO shame ?

Have you not thought for a single moment about what could happen to your unsuspecting neighbour if the Jobsworth from Poole Council discovers that there is a mixture of food particles, rubbish and environmental waste all mixed together in the one wheelie bin ?

Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

The Giant is feeling a little easier now confessing to my dear ship mates . . . tantamount to going into the confessional thingy in certain branches of religious establishments

It really works

To continue the thread - just for fun

Who else would be bold enough to 'fess up for being a tad devious

Hope all is well on your patch of God's County

Good grief I've lost count of how many times I've taken the credit for something and it was all down to Mr M&S, we have a rule in this house ... if M&S don't sell it we don't have it

This particular outlet is new to us

Simply called "Cook"

Has a huge range of rather delectable goodies

Knocks the overrated M&S into a cocked hat, would never serve M&S to my discerning ladies

But M&S knickers are A1 OK

I think that's very forgivable.
I'm not fessing up to anything but it did remind me of something that still rankles when I remember it. When I was first married and not being a cook I collected weekly magazines with recipes call 'Supercook', you could buy the white binders to keep them in. We invited our friends to dinner and I slaved over the starters, main course and dessert all recipes from the 'Supercook'. The dessert was a cheesecake. It was long and complicated, I can't remember now but it involved cream and cream cheese and a lot of effort. When I served it I was expecting a lot of praise for my efforts and was surprised at the lack of this. The wife just said these are good aren't they. I didn't know what she meant until months later she served us with cheesecake out of a packet and I realised she thought mine was the same. I can assure you there was NO comparison. Hmm! Good food is wasted on some people :x

Actually Graham M&S did become overrated 3 or 4 years ago and I stopped shopping there because the quality was terrible, I gradually started shopping again and I'm pleased to say many of the things I thought were poor quality do appear to be as good as they ever were.

Not just food I think they lost their way in many ways trying to appeal to a different customer, it appears to have worked but they've also lost customers ... "knickers" once upon a time I wouldn't have bought them anywhere else, I wouldn't even look at them now  but then I doubt you and I look at them in the same way  I digress though.

well done that man

however, if said ladies enjoyed your culinary efforts so much, it could lead to further occasions where your "skills" are called upon again

could be a pricey ruse in the longer term??

Plenty of eating establishments and watering holes holes en route :D

Hi Jo, Dobbies do sell the Cook products from their shop fridges. It is an excellent Garden Nursery too  We have a lovely Dobbies in Cirencester and if we go on a Tuesday we get a special seniors lunch for £5.99. and a cup of coffee. But we have a Cook in Cheltenham too and I make good use of it.
