Site Navigation ...

Unread post by Manoverboard »

Following a recent and very useful change I now use the option of having 40 postings per page ... great stuff ... but on the Topics that I follow I am obviously finding that I now need to scroll down a long way to locate some of the latest postings.

So ...

In addition to the ' Page ' indicator(s) would it be possible to also have another button ' V ' that when clicked shoots one down to the final entry in the Topic ?

Why not just click on "First Unread Post"?

Though I concede that it would be better if that option was available BEFORE one clicked on the thread.

Only problem with clicking on first unread post is that it could have been a few pages back since you looked at the thread.... I dont always read all the ones that I have missed unless it is a good topic.. so to click on last page number, which is similar to how we did it on the p and o site, seems a better option. imo... :-)

Another option is to subscribe to the topics that you are interested in and then you can access those topics via the User Control Panel

On the topic listing page there is a little triangle in a circle next to the name of the last person to post. If you click on that it takes you to the last post in that topic. Is that what you mean?

You need to be precise with your mouse. It would be nice if it were a bit bigger but that may not be possible.

Thanks Foxy. I didn't know that.

That will save some scrolling!

One thing to be careful of though, setting the number of posts per page too high will put more of a load on the server (since it has to retrieve, package up and transmit more data) and slow down your response times (to retrieve, unpackage and render the data).

you can also alter it so that the latest post is at the top of the first page ....- UCP - board preferences, display options

Will happily drop the post count to 30 if Admin advise a server issue but my own resposes are presently virtually instant .... unlike that other place ;)
