Onelife, if I am honest yours is exactly the sort of post I expected with silly comments about counts ... but as I have said several times, there are other agendas afoot.

I made the mistake of assuming words like 'saddo' and 'diddums' would imply a lack of seriousness ... in future I will try to include additional instructions and smilies for the humour impaired

I have only just read this Topic and my instant interpretation was that Ken was taking the p*ss out of those who put great value to such trivia as he sees it .... so what ?

Although I enjoy participating on this particular site I do not generally give a Shitsu about Facebook, Twitter or rankings and approval rating keys etc as they are generally misused for personal gain and point scoring but I can understand that for some they represent the only ' safe ' contact with the outside World that they are likely to get and for a whole variety of reasons ranging from a disability, being simple minded or those being in fear of hands on personal relationships.

Most of my working life was at the cutting edge so change is something I welcome rather than fear or find irritating ... others of course cannot cope at all with change so will hang on to something uncomplicated as it gives them comfort from the dog eat dog culture that we live in.

With respect, Mo, given that you acknowledge Ken as being one of the forum's top posters, I would have thought you will have read enough of his posts by now to understand his style of posting. He has frequently made very serious comments using very serious language. The vocabulary he used in the OP should have indicated that he was in wind-up mode!

With respect, I see the name but more often than not do not read and to repeat, did not find the original post funny at all, rather it was a scathing view of people upset about something which Ken found funny. It's easy to say now that it was tongue in cheek, especially since other posters also did not find the OP funny but I still believe that it was a serious criticism.

Which just goes to show how easy it is for some people to grasp the wrong end of the stick on the internet and become all wound up over nothing ... what amazes me is that even when they have had something explained to them they remain so entrenched rather than admitting that they misunderstood.

mo, you will find I reply to posts in the manner in which I read them .. if I perceive them as being aggressive they will probably get a more aggressive response .. so if the poster feels the response is aggressive maybe they should look at their own posting style before whining about how others post. As far as the old 'point scoring' comment is concerned, that argument is usually put forward by people who are being overly aggressive in trying to make their point, but are failing to do so ... the most common reasons are poor comprehension skills; reliance on hearsay (or something they have made up) rather than fact; reliance on weak emotional arguments rather than logic; following an agenda.

Also I continually say ALL opinions are valid but, if you put them out for discussion, be prepared for discussion ... and if you don't like the counter arguments or can not back up your stance and decide to throw your toys around the place like a baby, then that is your problem, not mine.

But in answer to your last point, I am one of the least competitive people you will ever meet so post counts etc. mean nothing to me, they are irrelevant ... as I said to HP, I am on record many times saying that we should not introduce such things, I don't like them, never have ... I wish such irrelevancies were the most important thing in my life but the reality is that in my priority list they fall somewhere between me deciding on whether or not I should take a dump or if breaking wind would be adequate.

With the multitude of comments that he has posted, it was a reasonable assumption for me to make that you had read sufficient to be familiar with his style. However, I apologise for my incorrect presumption.

Please may I remind you that you yourself said to me some time ago that you did not see the need to respond to questions you didn't like. I pointed out to you, as Ken has, that if you throw something out there, and someone comments on it, you should be prepared to back your case up. I ask you to clarify a couple of things some time ago (can't remember where/what) and you refused to do so.

I agree that some people on this thread have taken exception to what he has said and goodness know Ken and I do not see eye to eye on some things but, as the chap says, it is easy for some to get the wrong end of the stick - which, let's face it, is MY role on the forum!

I like Scrabble and I nearly always win the games when playing against my ipod....
But when playing against my OH we ALAWAYS end up having a very heated discussion about the correct spellings !!!!

There are proper scrabble rules of course and words that are not allowed...
