I still reckon Palace will be back down with a new record low, beating the current record held by my ex home town team
where as my new hometown team, Hull will ride high and bag a hatful of points and stay up

Don't forget the new fixtures are out tomorrow at 09:00.

The draw for the first round of this season's Capital One Cup (League Cup) has been made already....I spent ages looking to see who the Palace were playing....Couldn't work out why we didn't appear to have a game.....and then I remembered...........silly me what a muppet.

'uddersfield v Bradford....that's a big one.

Indeed Paul...but I suspect Sky will choose the Rotherham vs Wednesday tie in preference to ours.

Does anyone know why Newcastle United have appointed Joe Kinnear as Director of Football? He is 66 had a near fatal heart attack about four years ago and now wants to be back in the game. In his interview post appointment he insulted the players, fans and swore at the local media. Such diplomacy!.
If I were Alan Pardew I would be out of the door but this might be playing into Kinnear's hands as it is reported he wants to be a premier league manager again.

sealion

My thoughts, for what they are worth.....

Joe Kinnear will be Director of Football (I think) he will deal with transfers, player contracts, agents and the media leaving Alan Pardew in charge of football matters like coaching the players, work on tactics and improve young players.

Kinnear has vast experience in football and could be an asset, 'knowing Pardew as I do he will welcome Joe to Newcastle and want to work with him.

Palace invented Alan Pardew(or Super Al as we call him) so I have always followed his managerial career closely...He is a good bloke, a great football man, a great tactician and a good coach. Mike Ashley knew he had got a good bloke there, which is why he put him on a long term contract...Alan won't walk away from that..Newcastle had a poor season last year mainly due to a horrendous injury list. Ashley recognises that and wants to give Super Al the best chance to put it right this season.

" And somewhere out of the crowd came Pardew" the words of John Motson, April 8th 1990 FA Cup Semi-Final at Villa Park..Palace 4 vs Liverpool 3....As Super Al scored the winning goal in extra time....(the same season that Liverpool narrowly beat us at Anfield 9-0)..I was at both games.

Bet you wished you never asked now..don't you.

Paul

i agree with your comments about Alan being a good manager and bloke but it remains to been seen if he can work with Kinnear, who seems to have selective memory and lost the plot.
Remember what happened when Ashley brought in Denis Wise as DOF over Kevin Keegan.?
We will see.

The Zolacoasters head to St Andrew’s on the opening weekend of the Championship season but their first home match will be the following Saturday, August 10th, when they welcome newly promoted Bournemouth to Vicarage Road.

Their season ends at Vicarage Road on Saturday May 3 against ..... Huddersfield Town

OBF is slotted in sometime during November 2013 and then again in February 2014.

A nice easy start for the Palace....We welcome that nice Mr Bale and his mates from Spurs.....Last time we played Spurs at home 8 years ago, we won 3-0...I predict a similar score line this time around.
