Well my Royal Hunt Cup tip got stuffed but I feel fully vindicated in putting this horse up as it ran a cracking race to finishing 6th of the 28 runners.
I clearly wasn’t the only one who thought it would run a big race as it was backed from 33/1 down to 12/1 second favourite...I took 25/1.
If anyone watched the race you’ll have seen them split into two groups, unfortunately “Field of Dream” was drawn high on the stands side, alas all the pace was with those horses drawn low, indeed the horses drawn low filled the first five places... Field of Dream finishing the best placed of all the horses drawn high.
Well that’s where your money went...chin up, keep smiling.
Regards

Re: Ascot
I'm going to have a bet on my friends horse tomorrow - I had a great time last Saturday in Newmarket watching him on the gallops and met a couple of trainers. It was amazing getting so close to these beautiful creatures ! but what an early start in the morning, I was up at 4.45
Not sure what race his horse is in but should be sometime Friday if all goes well. The horse is called Ocean Tempest .He is Grey and looks like a pot of white paint has been spilt on his bum
If he runs I will be cheering him on

Hi trixie,
As far as I can see Ocean Tempest doesn’t seem to have any race engagements over the next five days.
It looks like your friend has a pretty useful horse to look forward to, and one that should do well over hurdles, should they choose to take that route.
I would agree with you...it’s only when you stand close to these thoroughbreds do you start to appreciate the magnificent animals they are.

When I first saw the title of this thread I thought we were going to be talking about water heaters...It turns out I was wrong and we are talking about the gee gee's
I have to admit that I have never been inside a betting shop and if I did go in one I would not have a 'scooby doo' what to do....My only experience of racing is..I was, many years ago, a jockey on a carrot crunching equine at the Donkey Derby at Butlin's, Clacton, in the Tufty Club Classic..I was about eight....the flippin' thing wouldn't work for ages and all the other competitors were half way around the course before I could kick start my mount into action....When I did get it going I fell off twice and had to be led round the rest of the course by a Redcoat.....I finished last out of six and a full five minutes after everyone else....I did however get a morale boosting clap and cheer from my fellow holiday makers.....and five points for second sitting for being a good sport.
Needless to say I have not had any interest in 'orse racing since......
My only other involvement in horse racing has been at fund raising 'Race Nights' where I have run them and also enjoyed them.....Why does number 4 never win

They're alright from a distance. One end bites and the other end passes wind. The bit in between just smells horsey. Sit on them and it's like sitting on blancmange. I can't say they are my favourite creature.
And when you are out walking in the countryside why do they always have to stand by the stile and then lean on you when you're trying to clamber over it? What's that about?

Congratulations to Her Majesty, whose horse Estimate means she is the first reigning monarch to have a horse win the Gold Cup. What a fitting achievement for her in a special year.

Well if her "Maj" looked happy she obviously hasn't heard the devastating news yet that you wouldn't want to live within xx miles of her Em
I suppose any chance of an invite to a Buck House garden party or a CBE/MBE is now out of the question

Hi Jo,
Sarcasm really doesn’t become you, it's not your shade. I said previously that I wouldn’t wish to live near Windsor (as if that matters to anyone else anyway) – I made absolutely no comment about other parts of the country.
And ....... do you know something I don’t?

Recently the Queen's milliner has created hats which appear to have (in everyday language) a corsage just above the brim with a matching sort of continuation of the corsage just peeking out underneath the brim - and very nice it looks too.
