Re: Nelson Mandela
They will miss him enormously in South Africa won't they...even more so than the rest of the world...I think he did more to reunite that country than anyone else....His time is obviously here..I just hope they let him die with dignity and in peace, rather than keep the old boy going against nature's will.
And I hope that when he does go South Africa unites in grief and celebrates his life as one.

Re: Nelson Mandela
We stood on Table Mountain, circa 1980, overlooking Robben Island and did actually discuss and wonder what this notorious rebel was really like ... no way could we have known the dignity of the man.
He commands great respect, his wisdom will be sorely missed but his memory will remain forever in that land.
He has suffered enough during his lifetime so I dearly hope that when the time comes he passes away in his sleep and without further pain.

Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Although I have not met the man personally we do have a very close family member who has and he is very charismatic person where nothing is too much trouble, apparently meeting with him is an inspiration.Manoverboard wrote:...wonder what this notorious rebel was really like ... no way could we have known the dignity of the man.

I don't know if he is a Christian but he could certainly give lessons to a great many across the "religious" spectrum on forgiveness and reconcilation

I have an enormous amount of respect for him, I do actually know someone who has met him she was in awe of the man as many of us would be I expect.
