Welcome to a forum that works, Derek
One question - what do we do with two DK's?
Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Welcome - I am glad to see you have registered. Perhaps you would be good enough to post your excellent information for first time cruisers as I know there have been some on here who have been cruising for the first time.

I must admit I’m a little sceptical as to whether it’s the real MM. However I hope so as I’ve missed him too.

Re: The Monocled Mutineer has registered
I am and remain The Monocled Mutineer (to the 'Doubting Thomases / Thomasinas').
Thank you to those who gave a positive welcome.
My participation is this forum will be slight as I disagree with the concept of moderators who are able to post on this forum. This also relates to rule 1c which is an open charter for any old lightweight who takes the slightest offence to have a member chucked off. I therefore will not be participating in topics such as politics, current affairs, religion, etc. and as those aspects of cruising that are being eroded by ever-lowering standards demanded by some of our fellow citizens who demand a slovenly lifestyle on board such as they enjoy at home.
My contributions will be limited to indicating when I am cruising and any questions I may have about an aspect of a cruise, ship, port, etc.
I am experiencing difficulty in placing an image on the avatar due to size of image considerations.
By way of presenting my credentials I will look to see if I can find any old reviews to place in an appropriate part of the forum.
I am looking to my 30th cruise, hopefully this autumn (nothing booked yet). I cruised on Ventura for the 175th P&O celebration in July 2012 and last cruised with a jolly bunch of five other gentlemen on Azura to Amsterdam in January this year.
I remain, anti-denim, pro-formal /semi-formal wear (for most of a cruise), anti-smoking, &c., &c., Derek "The Monocled Mutineer" Kane.

Welcome Derek - and whilst I do not agree with your stance on Mods posting (which happens on virtually all other fora) I respect your point of view.
I would also add that your interpretation of rule 1c is incorrect.

I would disagree. Despite openly posting with my real name and always in a constructive, polite and well-intentioned manner, various lightweights would accuse me of being a troll - some who would also abuse me hidiing behind their "nom-de-plume".

It is your prerogative to disagree - but I can assure that the Mods would not interpret it that way.The Monocled Mutineer wrote:David63:

Hello Derek. Nice to see you here and look forward to your contribution. I also disagree with David63. Moderators may well post on other fora but they don't get involved

Welcome back Derek/MM. You may (or not) remember me as MikeW. I've changed ny name on here and sometimes get referred to as MM. Sorry for that and no offence intended. I may not always agree but i's good to exchange views and everyone's entitled to theirs.

Sorry to be a doubting Thomasina.
I’m pleased to see you back but if that’s your formal outfit your wearing in your avatar, I’m not quite sure I approve.

Actually they do but Members may not know their identity as they Moderate under cover as ' Admin '.Mo2013 wrote:Moderators may well post on other fora but they don't get involved
This site had the honesty and integrity to be up front and reveal the Member Names of the Moderators, in reality that may have worked against us and it certainly places more posting restrictions on us than the Members.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Isn't it a bit odd to join a forum in order to announce that henceforth you won't be contributing?
