Well......yeah and it was an exchange of posts on here that reminded me....
The first time we took our kids(plus an extra 2 in our care) in Crete, they were aged 14-17.
We went into Aghios Nikolaos for a meal and then went to a place called Sorrento's Bar to let the young ones(and me) have a dance..it was great fun !!! ( we went there quite a lot)
One night when we came out and went for our taxi back to the apartments we noticed neon lights on a buliding flashing "Lipstick"
Nightclub !!! The kids begged us to take them...I quite fancied it too...My OH wasnt keen..but we persuaded him !!!
So we wandered in...it was about 11pm.. it was quiet... I thought, but then when eyes got used to the dark I could see people sitting in the booths
Now my sons are very tall and the sun had bleached their hair..they looked quite stunning ( for boys)
A few others in this nightclub thought so too....as they were approached by quite a few BOYS/MEN asking them if they would like a drink or would they like to dance....!!!!!
Yes it was a gay bar..................
Boy did I feel stupid...
Even now I get...remember when mam took us to a gay bar in Crete !!!!

Daughter just had a weekend in Manchester with friends and one of their favourite places to go is Canal Street (gay quarter). She has the best time, it's such fun and the people are just great. She's straight by the way. Last time she was there they were laughingly told by a gay man to 'go hard or go home!' ;)

Ohhh we had a hoot...and the guys, gay or not were great fun. They loved dancing with the "mam" ( )
I just felt a bit stupid taking my kids there.

At Old Trafford I once veered into the gent's toilet by mistake

As a teenager I did the same thing at Blackpool's Pleasure Beach ........

Last season I went to the ladies at half time and stood in the queue only to find a bloke come out of one of the toilets ! He didn't even have the grace to look embarrassed either, and he didn't wash his hands !!!!

That reminds me of the last time I visited a particular pub in Shrivenham. I'd stayed there several times on a B&B basis, and the gents' loo was a bit of a disaster area - limewashed walls, concrete floor, gutter to pee in, you get the picture.

On my last visit, I popped in for something ... a bit more substantial, shall we say, and I noticed it had been totally revamped. It looked really swish but I was a bit perplexed by the colour scheme. It wasn't until I was leaving that I noticed the lack of urinals.....

You can always tell if you're in the ladies -the handwriting's neater. Well, they can use both hands, can't they? :)

They re-did the ladies' loo at RAF Newton in 1977 because Princess Anne was visiting. It cost £5,000. Carpets halfway up the walls, inset wash-hand basins, the lot.

She didn't go in..... What a waste of money

Many years ago a Royal came to Wakefield and they revamped the toilet in the rail station. Don't know if it was used, but I was quite incensed because the Royal should have had to use what the rest of us had to put up with ! Never mind a flipping revamp !
