Oriana Getaways

Unread post by blodwyn »

I find it a rather odd that the only outside cabins at a Getaway price are ''obstructed view''
As there are only 4 such cabins what happens? Do Getaway bookers get an automatic upgrade?
Perhaps, wishful thinking, the Vantage passengers get the upgrade instead!

Crafty marketing!

those 4 cabins are on the deck above the promenade deck but if you are fortunate enough to get an upgrade it would be down to E or F deck right forward

Booked a getaway on X315 supposedly an obstructed cabin on D deck. At 2 weeks before departure, we have just received notification of our cabin with an upgrade to a JA Cabin on A deck. Quite happy with that unless there is noise from the conservatory above !

I guess this cruise has not sold well initially, and it may be that the majority of pax have booked getaways ? Then perhaps the earlier bookers have managed to get the better upgrades, as the price was still falling a couple of weeks ago ? I know it was mentioned by someone who had booked a Vantage Fare that they were moved from an outside cabin to a deluxe outside a couple of weeks ago - and they are nice cabins.

So perhaps both types of passenger benefit under the new system where getaway cabins are allocated at the last minute ?

We booked a balcony cabin as a 'getaway' fare just nine days ago, and today were allocated exactly the grade of cabin promised. Not entirely surprising as the next grade up appears to be sold out. However, we can't complain, as the price went up 2 days after we booked, and has since gone up again.

As for being directly under the conservatory, if you have an outside cabin you will probably be OK, it's the inside cabins that are under the kitchen areas that get the noise; - though I am speaking from experience on Oceana rather than Oriana.

We are on X316 and have booked getaway outside rest.view cabin. We haven't yet got our cabin allocation. We booked at a ridiculously cheap price and after we booked the price rose by £150 each.

If they allocate cabins based on fare paid we will probably get the restricted view cabin.

If they allocate cabins based on the fare some people say they paid then they must be sleeping in the basket with the ships cat :)

We got our cabin today. Delighted with a A deck outside cabin towards the aft. Excellent for using the terrace area as our balcony.

Nothing to do with Oriana or getaway fares but after we pre registered for a cruise we were not given best cabin in grade until I phoned and changed it. There appeared to be no reason why we weren't given best in grade as they were available. Only thing I can think of is that a better cabin is more salable but doesn't seem fair to the customer.

I wish I could fathom out P&Os pricing policy when it comes to 'Getaway' fares. Frequently they are less than half the price of the 'Vantage' fare for a similar cabin, but I came across one today where the difference was just £10!
I can't imagine they will get many takers at that price!
