Anybody laughing will be banned from this board
Just been to the loo in work (I know some are now thinking 'too much information' .. but stick with me here).
All the urinals were taken so I used one of the cubicles, so there I was innocently standing going about my business when I noticed a pound coin on the floor, just behind the loo. I bent over to pick it up and then heard a plop (bear with me) ... my #~£$% mobile phone had slid out of my #~£$% shirt pocket and into the #~£$% loo. Now the question was do I stick my hand in to get it or at least flush the loo first (risking doing more damage and possibly the phone disappearing around the bend) ... suffice to say, I have scrubbed and scrubbed my hands (being somewhat OCD about that).
My phone is now up in the air conditioning unit (in the roof of our office) trying to dry out ... the only possible saving grace may be that it was turned off when it went 'plopsy'.

Ken
I can assure you I am not laughing
the same as I hope you will not laugh at this, one of my niece's did the same as you, all the advice, she received about drying it out, was to put it in a bag or bowl of rice, this absorbs the moisture.

My daughter did the same thing and the bag of rice seemed to do the trick. Worth a try.

Re: Anybody laughing will be banned from this board
Many years ago I took a phone call for a colleague, and passed the receiver over to her desk. There was a filing box in the way, so I passed it over the box, straight into her mug of coffee.
The phone was completely knackered, hope yours fares a bit better, Ken!

Oops! not laughing...honestly
I was talking on the phone once while washing up... my friend wondered why there was a glug then silence! after taking it apart as much a I could, it lived in the airing cupboard for 2 days... good as new!
Hope your phone lives again...think I would still be scrubbing my hand!

a few years ago we were going through the entrance to poole harbour in our boat and I dropped my phone over the side whilst trying to steer and talk this gave my wife a wonderful laugh about men not being able to multitask anyway when I phoned the insurance company the lady that answered asked why can't you dive down a get it back as it is 20 ft deep there with a very strong current I politely asked if she was blonde

Ken, That is probably not the best start to your day. I hope it recovers soon as it is frustrating losing all the information.
I haven't had such an incident but last year my phone was in my beach bag which was in the sun all day. It took 4 days before the phone came back to life.
Slightly off thread
Poole boy mentioned men & multitasking .
Yesterday I saw that they do have the skills.
A white van man, music blaring from the radio, mobile phone glued to his ear and his left hand which should have been on the wheel was holding a mug of drink. He was actually using his elbow to steer.
Honestly, I wouldn't laugh at either of you.

I’m not laughing either. I’ve had many disasters with phones, watches cameras etc. My family joke when anything is described as shockproof, waterproof etc., is ah! but is it M.......proof. If I’m honest Ken my phone would have stayed in the 'loo'. Poor you.

Perhaps he'll get a new wee-ing tone now?
By the way Ken, you haven't told us which operating cistern it's on? Is it a P-phone or a Hemorhoid?

No, no, no - I'm not laughing! I'm just off to pick up a new 'activity' camera as we are determined to do some kayaking and rib adventures on the next cruise!
QED - it may well be just a bit more than a phone that we get to drop in the water!
When we were ordering the phone, the salesman told us quite seriously that it would be ok on a cruise activity because we could always fish it out of the water ......... in a fjord?
Well done for fishing your phone out of the loo - will you now be changing the ringtone to Water Music?

Given what it's been in, I'd be inclined to remove the battery and swish the whole lot in clean water, then do the aircupboard/bowl of rice thing before re-assembling. At least disinfect the outside of the phone.

Re: Anybody laughing will be banned from this board
I suffered a similar fate in a public loo while standing at the trough - down stream as it happens. At least it was your own, Ken
I picked it out and doused it under running water then left it on a radiator overnight - it was fine after that.
Another time, when moblies were 'luggables', I had one jump off my belt when I ran across the road in Manchester. I waited on the pavement for the chance to retrieve it only to watch a bus run over it. I called the office on a land line and said the battery was flat so I was told to charge it up. I had to expalin that when I said flat..... it wasn't just the battery!

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

So ... Ken unzipped and did a pee, dropped the phone and now has to use some rice ... once the rice has absorbed all the liquid will it become ' fly-ed rice ' ?

Keep smiling, it's good for your well being
