Lovely people but shows you what value for money and luxury you get with P and O/Cunard.

Value for money yes certainly, but not sure about luxury.

My OH 's comment was that if he was watching the programme as a 'would be passenger' he would run a mile.

As it was a TV documentary I suppose it will show different aspects of life on board the ship but there was nothing jumping out at me in tonight's programme.

I agree with AndreaS/ If I was a prospective new customer anting to book a cruise for the first time and watched the programme it would have put me right off. Lets hope next weeks programme is better and worth while watching.

Totally agree with Andrea and Karen and Bob - not a good choice of subjects for an introduction to Fred Olsen cruises although I know a lot of people speak quite highly of them. We do not join in choirs or church services but they give a lot of pleasure to people who do join. I could hear my friend's husband, who we are trying to encourage to cruise with us, saying 'you have got to be joking!'

I'd rather they'd showed more of the ship and the provided entertainment, rather than the home-made choir.

So far, nothing to make me want to book.

For a six-week series, they've covered a lot of the actual journey in just one night....

It did not inspire me to book either but I feel sure we have not seen the best of FO yet. If I were a newby to cruising it would have really put me off. Was that really the best they could show?

I never realised that so much spiritual guidance would be needed on a world cruise.

Oh dear this program is definitely putting people off cruising, I've just read Digital Spy Forum and the general feeling is that people are posting cruising isn't for them after watching the program. I'm thinking that it will put anyone under 70 off cruising.

It depends how trying the other passengers are. Imagine spending 3 months having somebody from the unmentionable social class smoking on the next balcony. That's enough to make a Saint behave in an unbecoming manner!!! ......

Should not be a problem on FO, they have very few affordable balconies!!!

Thought it looked delightful.

The ecclesiastical gentlemen was a sweetie.

I have been on one Fred Olsen when I was 33-years-old and was therefore entitled to a child's discount!

Our first cruise back in 2003 was with Fred Olsen. I would agree that if FO are trying to attract new passengers then the main subjects of last night's programme would appeal to a minority of people. We much enjoyed our first cruise - it was a Caribbean fly cruise so maybe the age range was slightly younger. On our table of 8 the ages ranged from about 40 to 60. The cabins are obviously much smaller on FO, unless you have one of the top suites and they are expensive. The food was at least as good as P&O and the buffet was much better. I hope they show more of life on board in future programmes - the ship itself seemed almost incidental to the choir last night. We tried P&O for our 2nd cruise as a friend had recommended it. We do like the greater variety of things to do on board, and the different places to eat. We have been back to FO for a 4 night cruise just before Christmas one year. It was very enjoyable but I do prefer P&O.

I agree Carole, I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the ship rather than the people. It was interesting however and I will stick with it and hope it improves. Liked the bit where they sailed through the Panama Canal, ( was it the panama ? ) I would love to do that one day.

Must admit what we saw hasn't moved us to try FO. What we saw of the ship looked tired and dated (worse than any P&O the day before refit) and the home made entertainment didn't inspire. The look ahead to next week didn't look any more encouraging.

Saw a quick glimpse of Terry McCrumm, who along with Avril were the dance instructors on our recent Oriana cruise. I'm sure there a shot of Aurora leading the way at one point.

Bearing in mind this is/was a worldie, I would have liked to have seen something about the logistics, ie how much grub and grog they get through etc.

Nonetheless we shall be watching the next one.

Likewise others, not inspired to book with them!

they did have some much more comfy sun beds and relaxer chairs than p&o, and there were plenty of them! I came back off Ventura two weeks ago with the worst back ache ever from sitting on the sun beds.
regards gilly.

I don't think that doing a programme about a World Cruise is necessarily the best advert for cruising and I am sure that it will have put people both off cruising and cruising with Fred

Looking at the condition of the old tub I'm not surprised.

watched this last night, what a poor reflection of both FO and the passengers, as an advert for cruising it was woeful
and the ship looked like something from the 1950's
